Hey ,

@proto13: Did u manage to get a replacement for the bleeding LED ?

@AnubisX : My 47' has some bleeding too . Is this within permissible limits ? Attached screen shot . Called LG technician . He came in had a look and said wont do any thing about it  .. The one on the bottom right corner is particularly irritating .

That attachment is too small and I can't see any bleeding in it. Posting a full size image will show something.

I did notice some bleeding with one of the Sony led I saw . But yes may be Sony has better qc and hence lesser chance of getting such complaints and I think in India we don't have same kind of consumer power like in countries abroad , where u can get replacement even for slightest defects .

Thats a very wrong assumption, a friend of mine has issue with his 1 month old W850 and Sony flatly refused saying its nothing wrong. I had to escalate to Sony head office to get a meaningful response. I find Samsung better when it comes to replacement or even buy back where they bought a 5.2 yrs old TV at 50% depreciation.

Every manufacturer is same, its comes down to your luck and the service guy who comes to your place. Sony/Samsung/LG all are same.

And I find your comment very repulsive and totally inconsiderate. The poster is worried about his TV and your trying to gloat here. Be sensible to others.

Cant see from the pic, but you think its there, post a compliant in their FB page and send an email to CC. The service guys always try to find the easy way out

If you're watching on a LED screen you need to view the pic from an angle to see the bleed ..There's a tiny bit in the right bottom corner :) . This is at Standard picture setting . Is there a way to share a post a high res picture ? I would like to get a second opinion if the bleed is within acceptable limits before raising a complaint again . Thanks

Take the picture, upload on Mediafire or Tinypic or Photobucket or Imageshack, post the link here with : [i m g] your image link [/i m g] without the spaces between "img".

Dear Invisible,

I am sure you are happy with your SONY TV so be it.. im a proud owner of LG LA6910 and i never regretted for choosing over W800..

Infact im very happy for not choosing W800, because it was discontinued within 4months after its launch. Then W850 was introduced with almost same pricing.. :ohyeah: Many W800 buyers fell like they were cheated.

Not everyone will buy SONY just because you like SONY, give them a suggestion if you can.

If they choose other brand, congratulate them and ask for a feedback and get to know other brands as well.

proto13 concerned and he needs help, as a fellow member we must assist him. If you don't want to help him that's ok but don't confuse him or don't make statements which hurts him.

Surely SONY is a quality brand that doesn't mean other brands are worthless.
As Madbullram said all are same SONY/SAMSUNG/LG..

SONY, LG, SAMSUNG, PANASONIC ARE THE MOST POPULAR TV BRANDS IN THE WORLD PERIOD.

Please goto last paragraph of this article for feedback on Sony 42W850

Warning - below is a long article on my experience with Sony:

I cannot endorse 100% on current quality and service of Sony India after using their products. I bought 40EX720 last year and within 3 months of buying the TV, its panel had to be replaced due to sudden appearance of vertical white lines on the screen.

And again in Sep 2013 Tv started giving problem:sad:. Tv screen developed a big white spot (like a flash from camera) on bottom of the screen and TV was not viewable anymore. I quickly took photos of the screen and logged a complaint with Sony on Sony India website and thus my long chase with Sony India started. Since the Sony panel comes with 2 years warranty, Sony service guys agreed to replace the panel again with TAT 1 week but I need to pay for the service (Rs 1350). As expected, even after 10 days there was no update from them and after some follow up, I was informed that Ex720 panels (Active 3D) are discontinued and they are still working out a replacement model.

After few days, I got a call from Sony that replacement model will be 42W800 at no extra cost but I need to pay for transport and service (Same Rs 1350.00). I gave my consent by signing a final agreement letter along with a bank Demand Draft for Rs 1350.00 and then my further wait started.

Days passed, weeks passed, still no TV delivered and every other day I used to call the Sony service centre manager and he will give standard reply that TV is expected within a week. After a month's time of no TV at home and wife's ultimatum, I visited the Sony service centre in person and met the manager and he assured the new TV will be delivered at the earliest and delay was due to Diwali season. At that time of meeting I found 2 things

1. I can upgrade my replacement TV to 42W850 by paying Rs 2400 extra and
2. From the poster on wall in Service centre I found that Sony should have given me a temporary TV till the time of replacement which they did not do or inform me (Another indicator of bad service).

Thanks to this forum on information about 42W850, I asked them to change the replacement TV model to 42W850 and agreed to pay the difference. Now the wait time started fresh again (Wife was totally pis**d off when I told about the new delay). Even after 10 days after meeting the manager, I still had no TV and the service centre manager asked me to take this up directly with regional Sony in-charge and thus started daily follow up with both of them. What made things even bad is the amount of lies/ false assurances they used to give, for an example, the regional in-charge told me that TV was already dispatched from the Bangalore warehouse should be reaching home any time in the evening and I took 2 hrs permission from office (2nd time) to reach home early only to find that no TV was ever dispatched and to add to the worry, he stopped taking my calls. On another occasion they told me that a shipment is expected from Malaysia anytime and on other occasion they told they managed to arrange from a local distributor.

Finally after 50 days after original complaint, I got the new 42W850 and I immediately checked the usage hours and was happy to find them as zero ?. This is after atleast 10 calls to Sony toll free, 30+ calls to local service guys and couple of calls to regional in-charge and few mails to Sony. The whole episode has left bitter taste of Sony service and deterioration of its quality. I was always proud of Sony earlier as we had old Sony Trinitron TV (which ran without issues for more than 20 yrs), Walkmans, Audio players, Mobiles etc but this episode has shaken our faith in Sony. While I understand that LED panels are use and throw type, what matters most is customer service, fairness and transparency.

While everyone of us may have faced some issue or other with a brand, Sony or otherwise, the purpose of above is to inform that nothing special about Sony current quality or service.

Now about TV - 42W850: In simple words - we love it. HD contents are crisp and SD contents are good. We saw couple of 3D movies and shows - Iron Man3, Avatar, Star trek, Our Universe, Imax Deep Sea, Life of Pi etc and we loved them all. Whenever a guest visits us, we play them some 3D movies and they are always amazed with what they see:D . We are happy with this TV and we have tried every possible way HD and SD contents from Dish TV HD, DVD rips/ 720p /1080p movies from USB and HDD, Wireless streaming of movies from Laptop and Mobile using Wifi, Screen mirroring from Mobile, Wireless pairing of Youtube from mobile to TV, HDMI connection from laptop all worked well. Smart TV options were sufficient for my use but I would have preferred a better layout or UI for Keyboard. Overall a good TV and only time will tell about durability.

I had the LG customer service guy come over yesterday....he tried adjusting the screws at the edges...nothing happened...he said its a definite flaw and promptly contacted his superior and made sure the panel would be replaced (but i have to wait for another 5 days because of the holiday season - does this matter in india..sigh)...anyway he was kind enough to point out that...since its been only 2 days after the purchase..the complaint is valid...keeping my fingers crossed for the reply from LG..

Thanks guys.

and @windy_rider....i think thats a definite bleed on your screen...tough luck...contact LG as soon as possible...

@invisible...i am happy with the purchase even with the flaw...i had no issues with other features in the tv....i especially liked the 3d, ui, network options...i tested NFC, miracast(screen mirroring..otherwise called), in built wifi, the set even detected my NTFS 1gb external harddrive and the video playback is smooth and clean...all worked without problems...even 2d-3d conversion was good (not great though but good enough to be noticed!!)

I will post my complete experience once i get the panel replaced....

Sony 850A is a superb TV. i owned this 2 months back. Its picture quality is awesome. it might not be great for 3D but for 2D, its color representation is the best i think. The color looks much better than any TV, even better than INOX screens. I tried Miracast, NTFS 1TB HDD, screen mirroring, any format of video files, everything works great. You will be splendbound by its color representation. Go for it without any doubt

Reposting with more pics at 2 different exposure settings

Yep, the first pic definitely shows the fault and the second pic only above the LG cube. Get it replaced.

I am about to purchase 47 LA6910. After seeing light bleeding, i am kinda scared to invest 90K.

Can somebody confirm if its a known issue in this model.

I love this TV with its desing, PQ and its smart features. But At the same time, i need the quality and dont want to have a bad experience with the TV, dont want to run behind the vendor for a the faulty product.

Anyone else who has a same TV, Whats your though on this.

Appreciate your assistance.:licklips:
