Need help connecting Home Theater + BluRay + TV

have you already bought your Home Theater system? If not hold on. If it is already in your possession then you have limited way outs.

You can connect the HDMI out of BDP to the TV directly and that takes care of your picture. For the audio part if your TV has coaxial or optical out then you can connect the same back to your HT but not sure if your HT has these audio inputs. If not see if your tv has analogue (stereo output) which you have to connect to Audio In of your Home Theater. This can also be tried with the Coaxial input between your BDP and HT if the support is present on HT end.

However try another experiment if the above does not work. Your Home Theater seems to support Audio return channel via the HDMI which essentially means that if the HT is already connected via HDMI to TV for HT to Video transmission, the same can be used to bring back the sound on TV via the same wire. So play your BDP while it is connected to TV and see if the HT has any input selector named TV to playback TV's sound.

If you have 17K budget for this HT why not spend another 3K and get one of this YHT-196 - Home Theater Packages - Yamaha - India Wil put an end to the misery of living with your Sony HT.

This is actually my 2 year old system. I never got time to test this connection. And when I got time today, it's not connecting.

And this is used in the office. For Home, I have a new requirement for Hifi system and budget is 50k

existing system will work anyway..but not true hd audio.RCA connections..or if the ht has optical/spdif in...then.

for a new 50k system.
you can buy denon 1312xp at 32k.or yamaha/onkyo equally priced cousins
or go separate way and buy a avr 25k and 2 fronts 30k....and add on sub,surrounds and centre later.

for movies only... now a sub and a powerfull centre will also do.upgrade later.

I got a new TV , Panasonic 50UT series Plasma.

How do we connect the TV to my home theater now ?

Find out the HDMI port with ARC on your TV. You will see "ARC" printed on the side of the HDMI port
Then connect as follows:

DAV-DZ340K(HDMI OUT)--->(HDMI IN with ARC)UT50
BD-E5300(HDMI OUT)--->(HDMI IN non ARC)UT50

This way when you play something on BD-E5300, audio will be through DAV-DZ340K.

I have some lingering doubts about ARC and Sony HTiB. I don't think that it will work.

Ok forget the BD Player .

Lets say, I just put the USB on the TV directly and I need the sound output on the HTiB .

How do we do that then ?

Unless the HTiB has audio-in and which matches the TV audio-out, this cannot be done. For example, if TV has optical-out, the HTiB must have optical-in, etc.

HTiB's are not all rounders and that is the reason to be careful with their purchase because many do not allow future expansion.

Guess you didn't read the specs before commenting?

ARC is good way of connecting your devices but real pain is getting a ARC capable cable. I tried 3 cable ranging 300-1200 from ebay and non of them are working for ARC. I dont any any setup issue as such either of HT or TV part. Even shop people are not sure of there cable being ARC capable.

Best way to connect your HTiB to BDP is

BDP -> HDMI -> TV
TV -> Optical out -> HTiB Optical In

Its one of the best setup coz in this way you can have sound from your STB into your HTiB as well. Getting a optical cable is no big deal and can be procured within 500 bucks.

I was commenting on whether ARC works from USB sources. I do not know - never tested it as never felt the need (I do not download). That is why I said, I have lingering doubts. Best way is to test it out.

Look for an HDMI 1.4a compatible cable. It should support ARC.

use RCA in of your htib from RCA out/headphone out.......you will hardly play anything via usb in TV with a proper DTS audio........RCA in will do enough justice....

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
