Need help connecting Home Theater + BluRay + TV

prosenjit has already given you the basic inputs. But I thought that there was a little bit missing. The HTiB would not be producing true 5.1 sound in all cases. Herein I have suggested some additional equipment (extra cost :() and there will be manual switching required (:( :() but I believe that the solution will suit better.

Objective: Play Video source from either STB, BDP or HTiB. (HD) Video must be displayed on TV and 5.1 theatre sound must be output from HTiB.

Obvious: HD Video can be output to TV via HDMI or Component Video (1080i only). The sound must be fed to HTiB via HDMI ARC or digital audio input to HTiB for 5.1 sound. Composite audio will produce stereo sound only or at most 4.1 surround such as Dolby Prologic.

Limitations: HTiB has limited set of digital audio inputs - HDMI ARC, Coaxial in, Optical in. TV has two HDMI ports only - HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 (ARC). Since there is a dearth of HDMI ports we need the following:

A multi-port-in to single-port-out HDMI switcher

Hot-Black-3-Input-1-Output-Audio-font-b-Video-b-font-AV-font-b-RCA.jpg

A multi-port-in to single-port-out RCA switcher

This is a general purpose composive AV switcher. We are going to use this for switching coaxial inputs and hence do not need all the three ports. Just use the white RCA connecter. For example:

Airtel Coaxial Out ==> Coaxial cable ==> RCA Switch Port 1 White
BDP Coaxial Out ==> Coaxial cable ==> RCA Switch Port 2 White
RCA Switch Port Out White ==> Coaxial cable ==> HTiB Coaxial In

Solution:
Airtel STB ==> TV HDMI 1
TV Optical Out ==> HTiB Optical In
Airtel Coaxial Out ==> RCA Switch ==> HTiB Coaxial In

BDP HDMI Out ==> HDMI switch ==> TV HDMI 2
BDP Coaxial Out ==> RCA Switch ==> HTiB Coaxial In

HTiB HDMI Out ==> HDMI switch ==> TV HDMI 2

Sitution 1: Video-audio playback from Airtel STB
Since Airtel STB is connected to HDMI (1) port of TV, the HD video playback will be enabled. It is believed that Airtel does not produce 5.1 audio over HDMI. For this reason we have connected the Coaxial out via RCA switch. The HD sound will be played back via HTIB.

Sitution 2: Video-audio playback from BDP
The BDP is connected to HDMI (2) ARC port of TV, the HD video playback will be enabled. For purpose of 5.1 Audio, we have connected the BDP Coaxial out via RCA switch. The HD sound will be played back via HTIB.

Sitution 3: Video-audio playback from HTiB
This is the least problematic of all. The HTiB is connected to TV via HDMI and this will ensure HD Video playback. The sound is processed internally via HTiB.

Dont no about sony but all samsung HTiB hav ARC, low end to high end all models, and all latest LED hav ARC...which works awesome...no need of any optical or coaxial cables...only one HDMI does the whole work...

HDMI dint do it. I had to do with optical

And I have no idea, how to know, whether Im getting HD sound or not.

suppose there are 2 hdmi ports in tv.tatasky to one port is running.
other port is connected to htib.
now what are the setting we have to do to enable arc.....supposing thet tv and htib bioth are arc enabled..........

Does ARC work for non-HDMI audio sources? For example, you are feeding audio via SPDI/F or composite, does the HDMI ARC return such audio? I am not sure and somehow do not think so. I think HDMI ARC works for HDMI sound only.
