There were a lot of mixed reports on how Dil To Paagal Hai and other new film releases sounded on vinyl. Today i heard Jodha Akbar, Dil to Paagal Hai, Vande Maataram and 1942 A Love Story. They all sound excellent. There are absolutely no issues with the pressings. I would suggest those interested in these new releases should go and buy them before they go out of stock.

whats your setup?

EMT 938 turntable, Rethm SET amp and Rethm Saadhana speakers. All cabling is Acoustic System Liveline. Dedicated power line for the audio set up using Romex solid core in wall cryo treated cable. All outlets are Oyaide with their own wall plates.

Hi Prem,
I agree ith you on that point that they do sound very good and amongst them 1942 a Love story quality wise lags a bit behind. Specially the song pyaar hua chupke se there is something wrong the way it is recorded. The voice of Kavita Krishna Murthy doesn't sound very prominent. Did you also notice that?
Thanks.

No Mahiruha

Sounds perfect. Absolutely no issues. I have heard the original masters. These sound pretty close to them

Hi Prem,
then maybe that song meant to be voiced like that.It also felt strange that why only one song doesn't sound right.Did you get to hear any new release like Pakizaah or Mughle Azam. I am yet to get them.
Thanks.

I just got Jodha Akbar, Vande Maataram and Lagaan. loved them especially Jodha Akbar and Vande maataram

Hi Mahiruha

I would go for the old pressings for Pakeezah and Mughal e Azam

Prem

I am also looking for the old pressing of Pakeza . I have one but not up to the mark , will change this when available. However today I saw all the new released old LPs in Music world with a logo -" digitally remastered ". How it relates to vinyl.

I have DDLJ , 1942 love..., and "Dil to Pagal hai" they sounded good to me but not like the old LPs of Nikah , Umrao Jaan, CID .....etc.

Regards

I have bought 4 of these LPs: Rang De Basanti, Vande Mataram, Lagaan and Jodha Akbar. Unfortunately, I do not yet have a working TT to play them on.

Hi Pratimbayal

I have personally not heard the new lp masterings of the old titles but i am not inclined to as they have been sourced from the digital masters and not from the original analogue masters.

Dil to Paagal Hai is a digital recording to begin with, hence its going to sound different from an analogue recording like Nikaah.

Having said the lps of 1942 Love Story and DTPH are good, the cds of these titles are also very good. For 1942 Love Story and Dilwale Dulhaniya try and get the UK press which says mastered by Nimbus in the inner ring of the cd. For DTPH, get the first local press which says Koch Rajesh in the inner ring of the cd or the UK press which says mastered by Nimbus in the inner ring of the cd.

can not agree more, among all online stores my experience with Flipkart (Books,CDs,LPs) has been best and no other even come closer, just an addition to their service: they usually prescribe the date of delivery at the time of purchase and if they somehow can't obey the deadline they send communications which is rare in shipping, professional, prompt and sincere what they seem to me

only snag is records don't stay for long in their site, so if someone is not surfing on regular basis its likely he will miss out

Just checked the DTPH cd i have. It says "KOCH RAJES" :)

Had purchased after only few days of the release of music

Hi Rikhav

Thats a good pressing. In those days the glass master used to be made at Koch in Sweden and only the duplication was done in India.

Prem
Thanks a lot for this information.
Will try to get UK pressed Hindi CD's as and when budget permits.

Do the 50's and 60's bollywood music on the UK pressed cd's sound equally good?
