i just emailed mr. bajaj a while back on this. waiting for his reply. does anyone have any idea what could be the price of this new amp ?
After months of reading the forum in passive mode, I always wanted to introduce myself to this 'great' forum, with a thread describing my audio journey so far, but I will have to break the silence here.
It is me to whom the great DIY'er FM omishra is referring to, has got the Norge pre-power combo, but I am not the first one to buy it, Mr Bajaj told me that he has already sold five units.
It was a great experience to meet Mr Bajaj, he is a thorough gentleman.
After reading the review of pre-power by FM denom, had already made up my mind that I would buy the combo, however I wanted to listen to 1000 and 2060 also before buying it. I was fortunate to meet another FM cifrancis at Norge factory, so we together auditioned all the amps, found Mr denom's observations about bass and treble settings to be absolutely correct.
We concluded that the combo is clearly better than the other two, it really sounded very clean, detailed and had absolute control in the entire frequency range. I ended up buying the combo at 17k. It has a phono preamp built in.

Mr. Bajaj replied to my email y'day, and welcomed me to audition the pre-power amp. i already told him am not much knowledgeable in this regard, but would like to have his help in selecting the best amp for myself there
i am offered 16k for the pre-power combo, and 12k for norge 1000. could you pls suggest one among the two, considering that i certainly like a fulfilling bass ?
(not an audiophile here....my taste in music includes everything EXCEPT hip-hop, death metal, and candyfloss romantics

You mentioned the offer was 16k for pre-power , I was asking for power amp price alone.

i m using norge 2060 .the buid quality is great.not much esthatically good looking but does its job very well.
i pair it with my wharfedale speakers and it really packs a punch

Mr. Bajaj in once of his emails had mentioned that the power amp specs are same as that of ref 2000 amp.
Hi Kannan,thanks again for the reply, but which speakers would best be suited with Norge Mosfet Reference 2000 among norge or wharfedale diamond series?and i predominantly listen to western music and indian classical.

I am a new member in this forum.
I am looking to buy a stereo system for my living room . Before this most of my stereos were normal branded mini system .
After reading through this forum and web , I have zeroed down on a system around Norge amplifier ( apart from VFM ... there is lot of good feeling associated
with Norge here on this form ) if I am buying it new . I am also open to buying used amp / speaker .
Following are the options that I have :
1. Amplifier
option -1 ) Norge 1000 ==
option -2 ) Norge pre - power combo == around 17 K (specs are similar to the Norge Ref. 2000)
I got a quote of around 17 K from Mr. Bajaj
I prefer pre-power combo .
2. Speakers
option -1 ) Norge tower MK III (20 K)
option -2) mission m35i ( cost may be around 25 K )
option -3 ) whardale 9.2 ( wharfdale floorstanders would be out of my budget )
I prefer Norge tower MK III .
If I can audition both the amps and any speaker combination in Bangalore it would greatly help me in my decision .

Errrrrrrrrr :indifferent14:, is that pre power combo?
Sorry for the late reply. All Norge amps listed rated power are based on 4omh speakers. Norge speakers which we auditioned recently in Chennai actually sounded very good. They are 4ohm speakers and I think they have 3 models, 2 in book shelves and one in floor standers.
I strongly suggest you have an audition with Norge amp and Norge speakers and I am confident you will not be dissapointed.

Before you go for Norge speakers (rated 4 Ohms) think about future proofing your system. In case you decide to change your amp tomorrow- it might be a better idea to go for 6 Ohm speakers now.
The Norge speakers with the Norge Amp undoubtedly sound good (matched at 4 Ohms) but think of the above point. This was the only reason why I combined the Norge 2060 amp with Monitor Audio M2 speakers (& a HRT Music streamer).

You are right about future proofing and going with higher than 4 ohm speakers, I also asked this to Mr. Bajaj and he said he could make 8 ohm speakers, but not 6 ohm, probably the wavecor dirvers dont have 6 ohm option.

Congrats on the pre-power! Very interesting to hear that you have paired Focal speakers with them. Pls do write a review on the synergy between these & also the source used by you.
Did we meet during the demo @ norge???
