OLED TV's price/best quote thread

Nothing related to price here, but yesterday at Croma I could see the C9 next to the Samsung Q60R and another model from Sony (cant recollect the model- maybe 9500). Nothing comes close to the C9. There was also a Panasonic Oled which was also very striking. For the first time I could see the difference which OLED brings to the table vis a vis normal LED in terms of black level. I couldn't make out if the TV was on or not if the screen was momentarily blank. However its difficult to pull the trigger since my existing Philips TV is also a 4k tv (non HDR). Just better black levels may not justify the shift :-). I also played the same demo clip at home from youtube but couldn't really tell too much of difference between the clarity of picture between my existing TV and the new one.

So it seems I wont be able to upgrade my TV this year. I almost bought the LG C9 55" model (was getting around 1.3L with all the cashbacks) but then my wife saw Sony X9000F 65" which was available for 1.5L after all the discounts and cashbacks. She liked the size and asked me to buy it rather than the C9 ( for her size is an upgrade and not quality ! women you see !!). But after seeing the OLED performance, I didnt want to go back to a LED. So the only option was a 65" C9 but sadly thats way out of my budget now, retailing over 2 lacs! So I have put the TV buying on hold till the OLED 65" price comes down to 1.75 or I manage to rob a bank or sell a kidney. :(

But but, next year prices will fall more for sure, and you can have a bigger OLED that hopefully will serve you well for many years. Size does matter tbh. I wish I could have bought a 65 inch one, but I'm not limited by budget; I'm limited by the actual lack of space in my house in Mumbai. Can't fit a 65 inch TV only on any of the walls!!

Just for everyone's information, I visited Croma Store at Ambience mall Gurgaon and was quoted 2.25l for the C9 65 (without soundbar) less cashback of 10k for HDFC / 15k for IDFC First.

Guess expecting the price to fall to 1.8l -1.9l this Diwali season for C9 65 would be very far fetched. :/

i dont think the price will fall. We have seen that the price for 65" C8 was never less than the price that was quoted during last year diwali sales.

LG's new fab will be up to full capacity by next year. Supply will increase by a lot, and to boost demamd, prices will have to go down.

By then there will be a new kid on the block so C9 would be old by then :-) Probably replaced by microleds ?

Microled TVseven at current OLED prices are years away. Even Samsung is researching on bringing QD-OLED before microleds.

And I will keep following the threads to look out for burn in issues with more number of OLED owners and hence more data points

Look for 2018 owners developing burn-in. I really doubt any 2019 owners will have any such issues so soon. Plus, there might be a stack change in 2020 to WOLED panels. So might be worth the wait after all.

You will come to know why oled price will drop
