OLED uniformity thread

Yep. That's in a completely dark room.

I returned 55E6 due to bad panel uniformity and it started to show vertical streaks in a few months. Very happy with C7 model. C8 and C9 should be better I guess. Don't stress for first 100-300 hours. Mine settled after about 500 hours.

The wall would be black if it was indeed dark.

There hasn't been much uniformity improvement in the manufacturing process itself it seems. Minor only. There's an optical correction procedure that was published by LG display engineers earlier in 2019. GZ2000 might be using it, since it's a custom panel and that there are no reports of GZ2000 having bad grey uniformity.

Are you based in India, how were you able to return your E6 after few months? AFAIK here in India we don't have option of returning the TV.

@Marakk when is your panel getting replaced? Looking forward to your experience with new panel, after that i will decide whether to fight for panel replacement.

Tomorrow hopefully. They came and took photos of the original panel module as that was needed before approval. Apparently HQ isn't being that compliant, but since the senior technician saw everything and agreed with me, replacement is going ahead.

Yours does seem to have multiple bands that should be visible like mine. Mine was just a single one right in the center; yours has multiple ones, but not in the center. Shortlist content that will really highlight these bands. Check the Beasts of No Nation from 20 minutes or so. When they hide inside the house for a minute, the band in the center was showing on the characters faces quite some. Not sure if your bands will show, but do test.

Yes. Mumbai. I did return 3 55E6. LG had issues with panel uniformity a couple of years back. Now they are almost non existent or not issue in actual viewing. The easiest way is check a blue lit night sky with camera panning across. Like the scenes in Exodus starring Christian Bale.

Unless you see the issue in real life content and distracting it is not worth replacing. Let the panel settle for at least 100-200 hours. The pixel refresher does not kick-in until 2000 hours I guess. So LG knows what they are doing. Interesting stuff, you might see a uniform panel today but the same panel will not be uniform after a few 20 hours or so. It's just the nature of the tech. It's a point where panel uniformity is good unless the TV is a bad lemon.

That's my Google Pixel gathering light :) I know that my current C7 has a very uniform panel; just posted for info.

If you're happy, great. The jailbar banding that was prevalent in 6 series has reduced a lot, but problems are still there. Like instead of having multiple jailbars, I had one that was apparent in content and upto 20% grey because the immediate areas next to it were dark. Hoping the panel replacement would be better.

Tamil movies that I download have the site logo in the entire movie as showin. It’s transparent and light coloured. Is it safe from burn in?

Should be fine for a long, long time. Colored logos, such as tatatsky one, can burn in from 6,000-7,000 hours.

What you see in the pic is exaggerated. There are hardly any streaks in a pitch black room. Our mobile cameras with it's tiny sensor overexposes.

The dark patches go away after few hours (50-100) of usage. I was paranoid at first but then found watching hours of content settled the panel.

If there is a white vertical line disturbing your viewing then definitely get it replaced.

Mina has remained mostly the same barring some minor improvements after 500 hours. Panel variances can be large. Many on Reddit improved after pixel refresh. Mine didn't. It is getting replaced tomorrow or day after by latest.

Ok so 5-6 movies which is about 2-3 hours in a month shouldn’t cause any burn in for 5-6 years ?

That's for the tatatsky logo. The one you showed, that will be fine for like a really long time. 15-20 years even. I doubt your TV would even be alive by then. The white subpixel lasts the longest anyway. The other subpixels are actually white pixels with color filters. So I guess there's some loss in luminance which means they are pushed harder.
