onkyo hts 3300

A quick question - can I cut the extra wire from my center speaker and join it with the right surround speaker wire in the end (the wire is just short by 2-3 feet)

Suggestions please!

Well you can do that, I have connected my sub-woofer this way, I don't know whether it affects the sound quality but I have not felt any loss in my sub so far :yahoo:

Hope this helps :)

Cheers !!!

I did look at the back of the box and that is where I noted down the model number. Correct me if I am wrong, it should be a coaxial cable.
Optical connector and coaxial connector look so different yet you are not able to figure out?
Anyways...
Your cable box has an optical connector and you need an optical/toslink cable.

Yes, I was not able to figure out and that is why people without knowledge on the particular segement come to the forum to get advice from experts. Appreciate if you had given me a straignt answer instead of poking questions like this.

I am without words........buddy.
I am not sure what kind of prior knowledge/expertise is required when all someone is asking is to see two totally different looking objects in an image and then look at the same objects in real and tell which one is which.
This tiny exercise did tax you hard (wherever)....isn't it?

Thanks for your answer buddy. Don't get irritated. It shows your class.

+1, i agree too ontherocks always has been a great help to new members, mathan i think if your setup box is sd then its coaxial spdif port, if u have HD setup box then its optical.

for your room size it will do good. I m using 3300 for the past one month its sufficient for my needs, considering budget. as told by many here, u must have audition before deciding to buy, honestly i didnt :p and i just gone by the reviews on this forum but I am quite happy with the performance so far.

Hi
I have also decided to go with the 3300 HTiB. But before i do so, i have a few questions for those who own the system:

1. Does this support HDMi passthrough on stand by mode? i.e. can i get audio and video signals and have the receiver in standby mode?
2. How does it get? and how long can i use it at stretch?
3. What is the standard warranty for the same?
4. Which budget graphic card will i need to buy to get audio and video through HDMI from my pc to this?

That is all i can think off for now. Will follow up with more questions as and when they come to mind.

What is the best price for this system? I was offered this one for 23k with no installation or free goodies. Is that a good price?

Cheers :)

Yet to test HDMI passthrough.

Yes 23K is a decent price - go for it. Since you have auditioned multiple systems now, you will be able to attach value to what you are buying at that price against other offerings. To me its great VFM!

Warranty of the product is one year as far as I know.

Yes it support HDMI pass through when in standby mode currently iam using this method to watch Tatasky Hd dth.No problem there won't be any different in picture and sound quality when in this mode.Advantage of this mode is u can connect all HDMI devices to ur receiver and from receiver u can connect one HDMI output to ur TV so number HDMI cables connecting tv is reduced .There is no time limit for it my Tv run continuously for 7 to 8 HRs
Warranty 1 year.

It was quite good when i took the demo yesterday.
I bet others will be able to answer your question better.

Thanks guys for all the replies to my queries.

Cheers

Its available in 23k in bangalore, without any goodies. just PM me if you need more info...

Can you please let me know, where did you buy this at this price? Also does it include any installation (for wall mounting of speakers) or any free goodies?

Thanks.

How is the sound with DTH.in surround mode

I use SUN HD with my ONKYO HTS 6200 & the surround is okay to amazing, it depends upon the channel's audio encoding..

I watched I ROBOT & BEHIND ENEMY LINES in MOVIES NOW HD & the 5.1 surround was just superb :yahoo:

i was planning to buy this since a long time based on my previous audition of HTS 3100. but last week i got a chnace to audition 3300. i carried with me some of the HD-dts rips, it was a good experience. i liked it even though it was not the best among the ones i auditioned. but for my kind of usage this much investment is sufficient.

But in Pune the minimum offer i got was 24. as usual everything overpriced in Pune. big guys like ezone and croma are not selling onkyos in Pune. so is there any dealer from Mumbai sells this for 22-23 kind of prices ? because i will be coming to Mumbai during weekend. guys its not 1-2 k, i simply dont like to buy it from Pune.

@multifaced: The 23K price i mentioned is for pick-up only and doesn't include any installation or free goodies like speaker wire, hdmi or optical cables.

So for 24k if you are getting any goodies and or installation then it is good price and should go ahead and buy it locally.

Cheers

I understand that you dont like to buy from Pune but can you please throw more light on the same?
I had auditioned Onkyo S3300 at Vijay sales near BMW showroom (near Pune Railway station) and the price was 24500. I guess it was with the goodies.. As the other fnd suggested it would be better to go for it than to wait for a cheaper one without the goodies..
They had an Yamaha 5.1 (front tower speaker) with AVR also.. Tat was awesome but pricey 39k(without the sub) and doesnt support latest HD formats...

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
