onkyo hts 3300

@multifaced: The 23K price i mentioned is for pick-up only and doesn't include any installation or free goodies like speaker wire, hdmi or optical cables.

So for 24k if you are getting any goodies and or installation then it is good price and should go ahead and buy it locally.

Cheers

is it ? here 24k is including installation, speaker cable, HDMI.

I understand that you dont like to buy from Pune but can you please throw more light on the same?
I had auditioned Onkyo S3300 at Vijay sales near BMW showroom (near Pune Railway station) and the price was 24500. I guess it was with the goodies.. As the other fnd suggested it would be better to go for it than to wait for a cheaper one without the goodies..
They had an Yamaha 5.1 (front tower speaker) with AVR also.. Tat was awesome but pricey 39k(without the sub) and doesnt support latest HD formats...

in Pune the price of electronic goods are always at a higher side. also very few dealers handles brands like Onkyo, so naturally the choices are less for the consumer. its not the cases in cities like Mumbai and Blore...
when did you get the 24.5 offer from Vijay sales ?

I thought it was otherway round. Coz members from pune have purchased speakers at great prices. :) Oh well depends how good a bargainer you are  I am not

thats what.. we can bargain if the shopkeeper is willing to sell it. since the dealers are very less in number, they knows that any how the ppl would come to them .

@bigdaddy24: Sorry mate don't have a LCD TV to try that out.

@multifaced: So did you buy yours or what? :p

Oh yes!! i got mine on Saturday. unfortunately could not spend much time on the same due to busy schedules.

But on Saturday itself i installed it. did not take more than 15 min to get the first sound off it. right now its a temporary setup, connected my WDTV and TS HD to AVR, then from AVR to LG 42PQ70. all connections through HDMI. works really well. tried some BD rips with DTS, and the effects are awesome.

just now got a call from onkyo guy, he will be coming for a demo + setup on coming weekend.

congrats on your purchase.. :clapping: Finally u managed to buy it outside Pune i guess..

I got the quote of 24.5 say on 2nd of Jan.. Anyways its past.. Live and enjoy the present and future with you new toy..

I am keen on purchasing HTS 3300 but what is the feature-wise difference between this and HTS 5205?

Also, what better alternatives are present in this price range?

thx buddy. i purchased it from Pune only for 24k . did not think much about the savings. since the item is big in size, it will be expensive to get it from other places.

the AVR of 3300 is advanced with HDMI 1.4 compatible + its output is more. but 5205 has active sub.

but IMO 3300 sub is good enough for small to medium rooms. so i think one should consider the advanced AVR of 3300.

I got one in modern World Bangalore for 24.5 K

by the way, i see new ads from ezone for HTS3305, any idea what this one is? or just a typo

What is the main difference between 3305 and 3300? The subwoofer seems to be big and it has RDS which 3300 does not have. The price seems to be paired along with 3300 around Rs.25000/-

HT3300 - Audyssey control, heavier sub and nominally higher RMS output.
HT3305 - No Audyssey control, lighter sub and marignally lower RMS output.

They come with the same AVR and the speaker size/design differs on the 2 models, the speake cones remain the same size.

Phew........( i'm gasping for breath coz after a staggering 436 posts :O on this thread and majority of them being quality posts) I am finally writing this post of mine.

Like most of you guys with average/ 2.1/ computer setup speaker set :( , I too have decided to venture into the world of 5.1 Surround sound. :)

I came across this wonderful forum when I was wandering for Media Streaming players. At that time, my only requirement was to buy a Media Player that could play HD content on my Panasonic 42V20D. But then I got greedy and decided to invest in a HT itself.

I created a few of my own threads in Streaming Media Players forum.

Thanks to RetinalNV, He guided me to the concept of HTiB and 3300. After reading so many posts and so many successful and content users I am sure I can go for 3300 without any hesitations.

I have been an almost audiophile from my college days, so I have some good sense of music, but off late I have been happy with 2.1 systems. Rather even 2 speaker set.

I was in the states for a while and owned a Klipsch ProLogic THX 2.1 and then later got floored by BOSE. Bought a BOSE Lifestyle series, BOSE Companion Series 2 and also a BOSE SoundDock Series 2.

When I moved to India, I had to sell off the Lifestyle and it killed me. But got the other 2 babies with me and then I bought the Panny 42" (FUll HD) here in Gurgaon.

I plugged my Companion speakers with the TV and the sound came to life, at least it didnt suck as much as the TV Speakers. I didnt even bother to harness the potential of 42 inches of Full HD screen, until a friend of mine got me to download the transformers II, and got me to buy a HDMI cable. He played it through my Laptop and boy I was blown off with the quality.

And now I have decided to buy a HD Media Player + Onkyo 3300 + my TV should complete my dream of a HT. All that would remain would be a Lazyboy and some nice furnishing for the components.

This was the intro post......

The requirement post follows........:)

The requirement Post -

Here are my questions that arise from the concepts of Digital Audio Video and HD Audio Video

1.) Video Upscaling - This has already been asked elsewhere but I will repeat it here. If I play a normal 700MB-1GB DVD Rip/ XVid of a DVD Print (downloaded by a torrent) on my FULL HD TV via a USB pen drive slot in the TV itself.....

as compared to......

playing the same movie from an HD Player (copied in the HDD of the HD Player) and the HD Player plugged to the FULL HD TV via a HDMI Cable.

Will there be any difference in the quality in the above 2 scenarios? If the answer is yes and that, that the HD player playback is of better quality, then is it right to say that the HD player has upscaled the video quality?

Need the inputs from the Gurus here like ontherocks, borg, sat_hi_ish, jsanand, CANDUU and the others.....

TIA

Dude your making a mess of discussions by asking off-topic questions, this is a HtiB 3300 discussion.

Weird problem with my 3300.

Can't get display over hdmi for the past few hours. If i turn the avr to the right, then display works.

I can't make head or tails out of this problem. I'm stumped.
Can someone help me out?

Thanks :)

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
