Orthodynamic Headphones & all things planar

The highs are tunable to personal satisfaction & I think Brendon would vouch for that.
Different damping for different highs? noob here, sorry.

The bass is not a a strong suite of YH-1/2 but the the HP50S,NAD RP-18 & YH100(haven't heard for myself yet) have amazingly accurate & textured bass that one can only dream of in dynamic drivers.
Hopefully I would own one of these very soon.
May be the TPs would give you a better sample of that. :)
How much do these cost? 800$? I would never own these! :p

And yes these have to be shipped back to me, I shall pm you the address.
And this would conclude the YH2 loaner.
Got your address, I would ship it either today or tomorrow for sure.

And thanks all for the appreciation. HFV is a great place, most guys own and talk about stuff which I could never imagine to own, just drool. :p

^ Ya different mods for different signature. Owning an ortho is like having an equalizable headphone. There are limits though with small driver orthos in term of bass extension & sometimes the housings are difficult to work with.

The YH-2 are finally back with me. :)

The first thing I checked was their bass extension using the 'heartbeat' track from Chesky ' Open Your Ears' album & 20 hz is easily audible here on my setup.
I guess there is just some good synergy between opamp modded STX & these orthos.
Not that I am complaining. ;)

Wow ! That red colour looks sweet ! :D

Too bad the bike is not so portable or you could have sent that along with your TPs for the loaner program ! :p

@Gurubhai - Hmm, so my amp was the problem as 20 hz was completely inaudible. :(

Guess I need to upgrade. :ohyeah:

@sachi,..suuweeeeeeet!!!!nice bike there,hw long have u had it?the older 600's were real magic :).the sound then...yum.
@guru,thanks again for a generous gesture on ur part with the loaner.i feel very 'educated :)' now regarding planar sound.cant wait to listen to sachi's TP's.cheers

okay, as far as TPs..here is osmething to heighten all your anticipations and expectations. The more i listen to it, the more it seems they have taken over number 2 slot from the Wharfedale Zebrawoods.
I now have to figure out a way to re-tune the wharfie zebs with the LCD-2 as reference and see if it can claw its way back above the TPs.

BUt yeah, the TPs are sounding THAT good indeed.

Good news friends !
The BJT version of EHHA is now fully functional & it sounds amazing. :yahoo:
The mosfet build is still giving me some heart-burn but hopefully it would be fine soon too. Of-course for that to happen, I would have to get myself to trouble-shooting instead of listening to music..:D

good news guru. Hope mine is coming up well. I am too waiting too eagerly!!!

^what's your age? Even if headphone supports it I have no chance of hearing 20hz :(

I am still relatively young at 27 years and I can hear 20 hz clearly with my YH-100 headphone using the same amplifier. :)

@Gurubhai - Congrats !!! :D

Hopefully once both build are finished you can help me out what that thing we talked about. ;)

nice one buddy..I bet it must be a big step up from whatever you were using before. I hope i didn't sell it too hard on you guys and it was worth the platitudes I always seem to have for that amp.
I have never heard the BJT version myself. In the process of building the REV A version here and will be making it so i can roll output devices (toshibas and sanyos etc).

Can you describe the sound for me and what the output devices are?

Also, is anyone on the TP loaner program who resides in bangalore?

I am using the 2SC2238/2SA968 BJTs. Two builds are ready.
I was building a third mosfet one but that one has run into some issues.

Its hard to give impressions of how it sounds since I have nothing else which compares to it.With the EHHA everything feels better defined, more precise, better imaging & more space around instruments.
These are just the preliminary impressions since I haven't had much time to listen.
Right now looking for someone to build a custom chassis for me.

Guru, congrats on the build. Why dont you contact Magma or Kaushik on the forum for assistance regarding chassis?

On other note, the LCD-2 are indeed as good as the people have been saying. ;)
