Owner / Samsung PS43F4900 F series Plasma TV

What settings should i use?

Currently m using,
standard mode
cell=12
contrast=45
brightness=58
sharpness=45
dynamic contrast=off
black tone=off
color space=native
white balance=default
gamma=0
motion lighting=off
color tone=cool
other settings are at auto.

You can slightly increase you contrast and slightly decrease brightness for your break in period and also make zoom option to hide Airtel logo during break in period. Once phosphor mature the static image will be less susceptible to IR/Burn in.

Congrats for your new TV !!! I am 200% sure that your love for watching movies on your plasma will increase day by day just like it is happening to me with my new Plasma. Forget about what I say or others say, you will have an unbelievable experience. :yahoo:

I think I have seen the same 43 inch model in reliance digital. The mrp was 37.5k. The offer price was around 35k.
They were playing star hd.
It was good.

That is what they will always say.

People confuse Burn-in (BI) with Image Retention (IR). BI is permanent image sticking while IR is temporary. IT is near about impossible to get BI - you need to abuse the TV very badly to achieve this like keeping a static image for 2-3 days together all the time.

Temporary IR is a problem but only during the first 200 hours. During this time, the phospors are new and burn brightly. So static images can stick for a longish duration. But after 200 hours, it is difficult to get IR also.

Think of IR/BI like children. Young children are full of energy and enthusiasm. They get excited very fast. In their enthusiasm and excitement, they get hurt while playing, etc. As children become adults, the adrenelin rush simmers down. Adults are less prone to excitement and getting hurt - they also know how to handle themselves. Umm! Well, mostly. Please read: Prevent Image Retention and Burn-in

excellent tv.........got the same for my bro yesterday. Was a lot better than I expected. 3D and 2D to 3D were really good. Unlike most 3D video on other tv's, this one has a very bright 3D picture which enhances overall 3D viewing.

The connections are limited, would have liked some more HDMI / AV connections. Tried a generic wifi dongle which did not work. Guess you only need a Samsung one as specified in the manual.

The settings are pretty exhaustive compared to Panasonic UT50. Lot of calibration controls, would be a calibrators delight.

Hard to find a better plasma at the price!!!

Hi Guys...
I am also planning to buy this model 43F4900, it would be a great help if you guys can provide some detail on the picture quality, specially on the 3D quality compare to other Tv's in the same range.:):)

Rakesh.............excellent tv, was quite impressed for the price. Have not played any native 3D content but the 2D to 3D works really well. The 3D picture is quite bright compared to other 3D tv's I have seen. Design is also great, really slim for a plasma tv, can easily pass off as LED.

Today, I checked this model out. Fantastic quality at the price. It will definitely put much higher price LEDs to shame.

Thanks Aakash, going to buy this TV very soon, just waiting for the good deal like the last year where they are giving one 3D blue ray free along with 43E490... but can't wait for longer.

Any idea from where we can buy 3D content like movies ( not the CD ) in memory drives, which can be compatible to this model.

Thanks for all the feedbacks about this TV. I purchased it yesterday. Initially I had no idea of purchasing the plasma and I was planning for Led. But during the demos I was not comfortable with the picture quality of sub 60k LEDs of Samsung and Sony. Then i got chance to demo this model kept in the corner of the showroom. I felt the picture quality was good and natural than LEDs. But I was worried since it is plasma and not much popular among the buyers.In fact i am unable to find not even a single plasma TV for demo in some of the popular outlets.

But this forum discussions and related threads gave me the confidence and I went ahead with purchasing this model. I am really happy with the quality of picture it produces. Currently I have SD connection and the picture quality is acceptable. For HD contents through usb the quality is quite amazing and its hard to find that it is not full HD at a viewing distance of 8 feet.

Knowledge is true wealth.

mmm...the price looks tempting. Does this tv play 1080p contents?

Saif, please can you post some pics of 1080p movies on your tv, if possible?
