Owner / Samsung PS43F4900 F series Plasma TV

Guys,

A question - I am going to buy this tv but wanted to ask if there is major increase in your electricity consumption. how much increase can I expect in the electricity bill per month?

Other than that I am sold on this tv. Saw it today in the shop and saw some 3D movies. Looked awsome!

Sunny- F4900, does not have 3D, if I am not wrong. For that you'll have to opt for the next model F5500. Both are good VFM TV from Samy.

I will answer the first part. I purchased ST50 and it replaced my 21" crt. I have not seen any jump in the power bill.

F4900 is 3D Plasma . and indeed a good one .
Also check for F5500 i felt the 3D has more depth in it .

The 5500 model was not there in the store so i bought the 4900 and I am very happy with it.

Been watching 3d movies mostly even the movies I watched earlier. After watching this I noticed that there are basically two type of 3d effects.Initially I was expecting things to come out of screen.
One is behind the screen effects like you are watching through a window and you can see the depth(this is done amazingly in this tv the picutre is crystal clear and you can perceive the depth very well). Avatar excels here, when I watched in the theatre I honestly thought there was no 3D in this movie but when I saw in the TV i unterstood why everyone was raving about it. It really was like looking through a window.
Other is when something pops out of the screen(this effect is very less in the movies) also the pop out doesnot happen that effectively in this model I think. I read some reviews mentioning pop outs but didnot find the pop outs when watching it on tv. Some even say that pop outs happen better in the passive 3d. But still the 3d performance is very good.
Watched avengers and the second half is a blast. Animated movies have better 3d.Maybe it is because I have not experienced 3D in other models :p

If there is a window or light source in front the tv think seriously before buying plasma as even a slight reflection is a bit annoying. But for me this is manageable as I dim the room. The downloaded movies(not hd) look good on the plasma if watched from a distance.

Also can anyone let me know how to change the aspect ratio when in 3d mode as the aspect option is not avialable in 3d mode(Not talking about 2d to 3d) It is available when I am in 2d mode but not in 3d mode.

^^^ Congratulations on your new TV. As regards to 3D and pop-outs, there is lot more to 3D than people throwing pies at you. That euphoria dies soon enough. But if it is pop-out that you wish to test, look for "IMAX deep sea 3D" blu-ray.

Any feedback from ordering this TV from Snapdeal. lists for 40K whereas Reliance is selling for 44K.
Snapdeal says "sale from premium dealer" . what does it mean ?

Hi all,

I am looking forward to buy this. Other option for me is LG PN4500 Plasma (kinda same just without the 3D and just one HDMI) for good price of 33K. The last option is to pick 40F5000 LED for Rs. 33K (w/o warranty) from Gaffar Market here in Delhi (same sells for 55K in stores).

F4900 is active 3D and I was reading about it and in reviews they say u may get headaches in watching movies after 15 minutes or so, ur brain notices the shuttering of glasses, image is dark, you can't be too far off vertically & horizontally from the center, etc etc. What is your take?

I did demo both LG & Samsung models in stores for a brief-while in which I couldn't check for these 3D related issues. I did find LG's sound & interface to be better and it supported more movie formats. I had 11 files in my USB HDD of different formats. Samsung only showed 8 in folder whereas LG showed all (I think sammy skipped the native BR .m2ts format files & .mov). Though the LED of same F series did display all files. PQ was more of less same in both LG & Samsung.

I did check Panasonic also as they offer 3 years warranty but they didn't have much options to offer both in LED & Plasma. Either they have their 39" LED which wasn't very good or > 50" models in LED & Plasma which were out of my budget.

Now I am confused. Please help me out guys.

Hi,
Got my 51 Inch Sammy plasma over the Diwali Sale. Very happy while playing HD source. Got it for 54.5 k plus a Samsung Blu Ray player part of the festival offer.

Hi,
If Budget is not an issue, which is an better option - PQ wise and Brand Value/Customer Service - LG 42PN4500 or Samsung 43F4900 ?
Samsung has the 3D option, which is of no value to us as I am buying this for my Parents who are mostly interested in watching Cable TV/Dish...

Plasma will always be less bright than LCD/LED. In a room with lot of light, the plasma picture will feel washed out. You should reduce the ambient light to make plasma appear more attractive.

I watch my plasma during day time with all curtains drawn and during night time with a table lamp with 10W CFL reflecting light off the wall. This also helps in reducing glares and reflections. No one complains at my home that plasma is not bright enough.

Hi, just came across this..........logged in after a long time. You also got the Samsung 43F4900 alongwith the panasonic ST50?
