Can some one please tell if they got a 3-year warranty card with their Panasonic TV? Also when/where (inside the box, at the time of purchase, later) and how they got it (from dealer or from Panasonic)? Thanks.

Here is my experience - Got the TH-P50X20D yesterday. In all the excitement, didn't notice the details on the warranty card (rookie mistake ). Anyway, when I checked it later in the evening, I was surprised that it said only 1-year warranty. I called up the sales guy about it and he sounded just as surprised as me. Since he already went home for the day, he said he would call me today after he checked it with his senior. Still waiting for his call.
In the meantime, I decided to call the Panasonic help line (1860 425 1860) about it. Here is where the fun begins....
- The girl who answered (Nishita) was not aware of any 3-year warranty offer.
- I asked her to provide a local contact number and she gave me two numbers whose sequence seemed very unfamiliar. So I got a doubt and asked whose numbers they were - and get this, marketing office in Lucknow (I am in Visakhapatnam).
- She said that she is unable to find any Panasonic dealer or Brand shop in Visakhapatnam (one brand shop & five dealers - the information is there on their web-site), so she gave me the numbers of the nearest city lol: love her GK about Indian geography).
- It was over 10 mins by this point and I was getting agitated. I asked to speak to her supervisor. She put me on hold for 2 minutes and said that the super would be with me shortly.
- Another 2 mins, nothing happened. I asked why it is taking so long and she said that she already talked to her super and was about to say something. I cut her short and said I am not interested in talking to her anymore. Either she puts me through to the super immediately or I will escalate the issue with their corporate office.
- A guy (Karthik) comes on line after 1 min and claims to be her supervisor. I ask him why he is reluctant to speak to their customers, and he gives some vague answer about being busy with another call.
- He says that the 3-year warranty offer is valid only for purchases made thru Panasonic outlets. I immediately called his bluff and said that in that case I will be filing a case in the consumer court for fraudulent advertising.
- He then changed tactic and asked for the model and serial number of the TV. He said that he would register my request and I would get a response from their Chennai office in a couple of weeks. He sounded as if he was doing me a great favor.
- I told him it was the 50" Plasma in X20 series. He didn't know the model number - not a good sign. His excuse is that they have several models of plasma TV and he cannot be expected to remember all of them. Whatever, I gave him the full model number.
- I didn't have the serial number on hand. He promptly asked me call back when I had the serial number with me. I said I will, but asked him to at least confirm about the 3-year warranty offer. But he was very hesitant and non-committal.
- I got tired of dealing with them and ended the call.
This is my first dealing with Panasonic customer care - not all a confidence building experience.
