Panasonic 50Gt50d at 1.2L

Different places and states have different rates of sales tax, local tax, octroi, etc. Add to that, places like Delhi and metros are where dealers can sell more units and hence can sacrifice a bit of commission because the inventory turns are faster and hence lower cost of carrying. In smaller towns, there are not many who will end up buying a 100k worth of TV. The dealer has large carrying cost and hence will not be agreeing to more discount.

One can definitely get it from a dealer in another city at a lower cost. Ahemedabad is a good example as Mehsana is only some 70 km north. But then there is cost of transportantion and local dealer support.

As regards to the various prices mentioned, I have not seen any 50ST50 sold below 1L. Various threads/posts have mentioned prices but no firm sale - perhaps mainly because of no stocks. Correct me, if I am wrong.

Is the 50GT50 worth for 116K? Yes and no.

Yes because ... GT50 is THX certified and produces twice as many shades of grey than ST50. The set has higher dynamic contrast ratio which "should" mean higher native contrast too. This means blacks will be deeper, more shadow details. THX mode means ideally suited for movies. Less callibration, etc. It has extra HDMI and USB port. It has face recognizing 2D to 3D conversion. The set is also visually more appealing and thinner panel. THX alone will be adding to 2~3k of royalty fee to the base manufacturing cost (and making George Lucas richer). In short, if one is watching pure 1080p stuff, high performance will be delivered.

No because ... all the magic and betterments will be felt only when fed with high quality picture source. If one is watching DTH with SD and some HD, downloaded content, all the extras will not play much part.

The dealer has given me two offers
1. 50GT50 at 1.16L which is readily available here
2.50ST50 at 98k...which is available after 25th

which will be better value for my ruppee spent

90% movies (downloaded-HD)played via Himedia 900B & 10% DTH

For your needs, ST50 is good enough.

Brand shops in bangalore wont give you prices which I have mentioned. Better bet would be Multi Brand stores. Check Girias(altough their service is poor but you may get lucky) and say them that you are getting ST50 for 98K and ask them to match the price. they will certaily reduce 3-4k based on your bergain capability.

Same trick you can try with Koramangala Brandshop. I did this for my UT50 and it worked.

So try your luck :)

Why asking the same question again? Can you also check for ST50 thread...

That is ok.
Let him ask. But price thread may be the right one. :)

is ST50 at 98K is good?

Yes. That is a good price. You can buy at that price but make sure that you don't end up with a demo piece with lot of usage hours. And never mind others who may get it cheaper. If you wait for six more months, you may get it at 90k. But such forecasting is pointless.

50ST50 at 98K is a very good offer. When I bought 42ST50 (in september), the least price quote I got for 50ST50 was around 1.04L (along with a printer). Any way I decided to go for 42ST50.

Just a piece of info I would like to add when it comes to choosing between GT50 vs ST50. Of course there are some differences in features which can be got easily from the Panasonic websites, but let's see what most of expert reviews mention about those differences.

GT50 vs ST50 Pciture quality:
- By default (without any calibration), GT50 is better due to it's THX calibration.
- After doing the calibration on both ST50/GT50, ST50 is on par with GT50 and there is absolutely no difference between those two (this is what the experts said). In fact in one of the websites, ST50 was used as the reference model to review GT50 and VT50. So when it comes to PQ, there is no difference.

Application features: GT50 vs ST50
- If it is to do with streaming/download/reading from disks, GT50 is better as it has dual core.

Go to your bank, withdraw 100 crisp notes of Rs. 1000 each, run to your dealer, pay him, pack the carton in your Innova or whatever, and bring the beauty home. Of course, verify usage hours.

What more can I say?

Man, You are really are a lucky fella!!:clapping:

I got it for 112 a few days back although with the printer and logitech wireless keyboard which are available for around 11500. Since it is a laser mfd one can easily sell the same for 8 to 10K. So definitely a deal below 105k is cool.

However if it is a demo piece don't buy it as continuous viewing of tv channels in dynamic mode in shops definitely cause image burn in. Mine had the tata sky letter notification and star gold logo burnt in and had to return mine as the svg tool read 380 hours. The brand shop owner agreed to replace with an untouched one!

Just wanted to know what the mp3 hungama deal is?

They have a palm plate circulated where they have 2 offers & each worth 10k is written on it...and sale price of 1.39l which they agree to sell at 1.25l finally...from the mp3 hungama website...u can download movies he said which I haven't seen and don't bother about.

I will ask if he has other pieces to sell at same price after conforming if anyone is willing to buy...

kix .. well said.. agreed no firm sale under 1 lac for 50ST50... in fact no stocks still of ST50 series.. enquired with Croma, Reliance Digital & a local Big show room.. no one has them.. Atleast Panny guys have the GT model.. what a pity..

50ST50 is in stock its avbl at a shop in dadar area go get it!
he has ample stock hehe could count more than 10 in his stockyard :)
i guess you need to stay away from the panasonic brandshop and cromas and nexts of the world and check out your friendly neighbourhood multibrand dealer he may have stock just my 2 cents
please look around and lets not spread false rumours regarding non availability of 50ST50 model As XT and ST are fast moving models of panny. i m sure they donot want to miss out on the sales during the festive season.

That's great news :).. If you don't mind.. few queries/ help

which shop in Dadar?

BTW, do they have it on display as well? (I have not seen it anywhere, even in the biggest multibrand showrooms here in Navi Mumbai.. everyone has XT only apart from the old models)

and of course what is the best price & offer he has..

Hi,

I will be buying 50" ST50 or GT50 this Diwali,

Since it is mentioned that for dth viewing both hd and sd, ST50 is best fit.
And also by calibrating ST50 it can match GT50 in picture quality.

I want to know can I calibrate ST50 my self using the setting mentioned in sites like cnet and others.?
Is this all to calibrating the tv.
Also is professional calibrating service available in Mumbai?

Can some one share about power consumption of ST or GT, should we concerned if we watch TV for 12 hours per day.

Also want to know from madurai1974 from which shop in dadar he bot tv from as i stay in parel.

thanks
