42 inch plasma GT20 (last year model) i got quote from dealer around 55K.
ST30 model price is currently around 75K, but will come down to 65k by year end.

Out of these two models which is better one interms of PQ with SD channels/very few HD channels.

1. PQ is most imp one and budget is less than 60K.
2. 3D is not much of importance, but if i get 3D enabled model for extra price of 10K without compramising above point, is a stretchable budget to me to have some extra fun.

V20 model stock is over .so Its question of last year GT series Vs This years ST series.

VT>GT>ST in that order panasonic pricing and PQ quality levels change.

I actually started with 42U30 model which is around 44K, then shop person told me about GT20 price , which also has 3D for extra 10K and with better technical specification than U30.

Should i go ahead with GT20 or wait for few months when ST30 price falls below 60K and go for it. There is no emergency for me to get TV, i can wait for few months though.

I am looking for only 42 inch and panasonic only. I checked samsung models , but PQ especially the background is not so great like in panasonic. I am not looking for LCD/LED models as of now , since i dont like that extra brightness or artificial look and boring to watch for long time.

Anybody had any experience with these two models ?

Amoung the three, the GT20 seems a clear winner from reviews.
Avoid the U30 if you can.

The GT20 actually has better specs from international sites than the ST30.

The Indian V20 is said to have the European G20's panel and filters. If this is unaltered with international spec (find the character after GT20 (B/D etc)), then it is as good as indian V20 with 3D.

Ofcourse, knowing panasonic, they would have stripped it down for india. With no official product page, all we can do is "speculate".

Bottomline, If it is P42GT20B, Buy it.

GT20 (some or all phoren versions) has 2D-3D conversion and is THX certified.
The last I saw specs on indian website for GT20 it did not explicitly mention 2D-3D conversion capability and THX certification.

Which city are these qutoes for?

I did not see any GT20 at any shops I visited in Bangalore. I am just looking for a good 42" plasma and can stretch my budget for 50k or so if I get something better than u30.

Thanks.

Some one told me 48.5k was the best price they got on GT20, never mentioned where they got it . So I dont believe them. Best I could bargain was 53k.

Guys I need some help, I think this thread is the closest fit.

Some time back I bought the P42V20D but it had an image burn in problem (probably demo piece) long story short, Panasonic have agreed to replace it with an equivalent or higher model.

Now my question is, at present which 42" model is equivalent or higher to the P42V20D?

A higher model would be a 42 30D but which one? ST/UT/GT ? also is the 42GT20D simply the 3D version of V20D ? or are there any other differences?

3D is good to have but not necessary thats why I went with V20D as it was the best 2D available then.

@IBL - I dont think there is a model better than P42V20D today on Indian market - ask them if they will replace with the same model or a 42V30 model.... unreleased in Indian market as yet :)

There is the 42ST30D available now, that has G14 panel over G13 of 42V20D but is worse off featurewise.

hi, the order of models hi to low would be VT, GT, ST..........try to get VT which is the hi end model. VT30 would be the 2011 model while VT20 would be the 2010 model.

Hi, I am happy you are looking at plasma and not LED/LCD, your eyes will thank you.

I am surprised the GT20 is available in the market since this is a 2010 model which was not launched in India. I would suggest demo both the tv's and then decide. Watch HD as well as SD and spend some time. Both are very good tv's and you cant go wrong with Panasonic. Do not go for U or X series as they dont come with the neo pdp panels which is what you must have. all the best!!!

GT20 was indeed launched in india http://www.panasonic.co.in/wps/portal/home/products/digitalav/tv/vieraplasmatv/gtseries.

How much did you get it for?
If it is around 60k, get a refund and go for the 50" model which is now 65k in the group buy.

I got it for around 62K (in Pune). Do you have the link for the group buy?

since this replacement is being done by the company I do not think they will give me the highest end model at the price of the V20D. I may not have much say on the model they give me but just want to make sure it is not worse than the P42V20D.

Regarding the VT, only 65" (P65VT30D) is listed on their India website, so thats out of the question.

If you can talk to them and willing to pay the price difference, they will give.

I agree with your thoughts but the P42V20D is no longer available in the Indian market today. As a matter of fact there is no V series in India

Same model is completely out of stock, thats why it has taken almost 3 months for them to finally agree to replace with another model. (yes I have too much patience  )

The current 42" models better or equal to the V20D are ST30 / UT30 / GT20 in that order?.

I am also attaching a sheet with the specs for comparison from their website.

The current 42" models are:
42ST30
42UT30
42GT20

Other models are:
65VT30 (only 1 size)
50ST30
50UT30
(no 50GT30)

The only 2D models are the U series and X series.

Feel free to add prices.

And last but not the least......is GT20D (older panel more features) going to be the successor to the V20D or is the ST30D (newer panel less features) take it's place?!!

I don't think I can stretch my price or the size, it was stretched already. The only good thing is I get a 3D Plasma TV at the price of 2D.

Any idea what the P42GT20D is like and it's price as compared to the P42V20D ?
