Panasonic plasma 42 inch GT20 Vs ST30

@IBL - Great comparison sheet, thanks, very useful. Looks like 40ST30 is your best option as of now, since it has the NeoPDP panel

Whats the panel on the GT20D (Indian model)? I believe the GT has more features than the ST. My main concern is, is the GT20D display panel equivalent or better to the panel on the V20D? In fact if the GT is now cheaper than the V20 I might be able to get some accessories from the dealer for the balance amount such as a WIFI dongle or en extra 3D goggle.

compared to the V20D any reason I should not get the GT20D?

I really appreciate the responses I get to the queries on this forum

GT20 is a non indian version.
It is released with 2011 models which means, it is unsold stock of the asian/international version without 'indian' modifications (meaning lesser features).

It is available only in 42" only. Has 3D and 2D->3D.
V20 indian model actually actually has the G20 panel of the international version.
Apart from that 42V20 is not available now.
42GT20 is a very good option for around 55k. But given 50V20 is available for 64k, it is a no brainer.

Hey Blasto, I think GT20 is indian VIERA TH-P42GT20D | Panasonic
(as it has D at the end and its also listed on india website).

It looks like a pun.. Anything released in 2011 ends with 30.. This is 2010 model which they have released in india in 2011..

Also placement is wrong. UT ans ST are not superior to GT. GT comes next to VT.

May be they have placed GT after ST and UT because it is 20version(GT20). which is inferior to 30 series. May be GT30 when released in india will be above st30.

Agreed its 2010 model but I have been seeing this since couple of months :p. Not sure since when it was on website and when it was launched though.

One thing I noticed is that on the Pana website, The neo pdp panel is not even mentioned in the specs for GT, where as it has been advertised prominently for ST and VT.

it is mentioned in the specs check the website (again)

"Panel G13 Progressive Full-HD NeoPDP (Plasma Display Panel)/Infinite Black Panel"

The 30 has more brightness to tackle the 3D glasses + some improvements specific to 3D processing.
For 2D they are almost same and stil VT/V/GT > ST.

1 piece of 42gt20 available in mangalore pana brandshop. He was quoting 67k a month back. he ll definitely come down now. 3d was on par with vt20 i watched but did not go into details. it had 2d to 3d conversion which vt20 doesnt have but st30 has. But the reviews say that st30 is better in 3d than last year models. So decide on that.

is the gt20d still in production? i am asking because the model is still on the panna website!!

no, it is not in production as it is last year's(2010) model. But that doesn't make it a bad tv. it's the price factor which is lucrative. this particular model was sold at above 1 LAC INR when launched and now you can get it around 50K INR which makes it a good buy. Remember V20, VT20 are also 2010 models but they are selling like hot cakes because of the great price people are getting.

And it is available in the shops.
