Panasonic plasma 42 inch GT20 Vs ST30

If you speak to him now, he will contradict himself. I told him about the specs on website and he refuses to budge.

Just check the box and you will know.
Last year GT/V/VT were all neo pdps.
Even 2010 G series is neopdp.. G10 had a craze in this very forum.

Checkout 2010 asia product page.
GT series -Plasma TV | PRODUCT | 2010 Asia | VIERA | Plasma&LCD TV | Panasonic Global

and europe product page.
GT series -Plasma TV | PRODUCT | 2010 EU | VIERA | Plasma&LCD TV | Panasonic Global

and US product page.
GT series -Plasma HDTV | PRODUCT | 2010 North America | VIERA | Plasma&LCD TV | Panasonic Global

All the above has neopdp, Infinite black and 3D and 2D->3D conversion.

I will believe the product page better than some guy called ramesh..

You can also checkout asian vs europian V series. asian has only Infinite black and european has infinitie black pro.

asian

european

The indian version is mostly asian.

It is hard to get this speced TV in ~50k. Go grab it. He is probably pushing you the ST.

How did you know :)

When someone uses 'probably' in a sentence.. That means he doesn't know for sure. :)
ST30 is a higher priced model with the same spec on paper. Iam sure he will not find many to buy that in presence of GT20. Hence the drama that it does not have neo pdp is my guess.

The GT20 sold here seem to be some stripped down india only version!!

Panasonic always gives false numbers for indian customers..
Last year international G20 was indian V20.. Now this!!

I purchased 42GT20D from Panasonic brand shop Koramangala. They seem to have a lot of these in stock and the salesman was pushing hard for it against the ST30. And yes, he also confirmed it has the neo-pdp panel.

How much is the difference?
Delevered yet? How is it?

I got it for 55k with 2 3d glasses and the wireless keyboard . The least he came down to for the ST30 was 68.5k if the payment is in cash. Delivered within 3 hrs. The HD content (mkv played from my laptop) looked stunning. SD looks average. May be I need to play around with the settings more

The Panasonic technician called today and promised he will come to wall mount tomorrow.

That is a pretty good price!!
Does the manual/box anything mention of neo pdp?
People here confuse.. As far as I know, there is no G series released without neopdp..
But you cant underestimate the panasonic india. They could have swapped panels.

No.. Nothing on the box/manual says neo-pdp. But the specs on Panasonic India webiste did mention neo-pdp when I checked yesterday. Unfortunately the site seems to be down now.

Edit : Rechecked on the Panasonic India site. It does say "G13 Progressive Full-HD NeoPDP (Plasma Display Panel)/Infinite Black Panel" in the 42GT20 's specs.

Manu,

Could you let all of us know how you feel of 42GT20. I need a 42" plasma and this would be the best available, leaving ST out. Please let us know your feedback on the picture quality.

So far I am very satisfied with the picture quality.. HD content looks stunning. Initially I was disappointed with the SD picture from my cable set top box.. But after some playing around with settings, even SD has started looking good.

Sound is very average. You will definitely need a HT to enjoy sound fully.

It did not recognize my NTFS formatted 160 GB WD external hard drive nor FAT32 formatted 16 GB pen drive. So if that is a consideration for you, do not go for it. More over, as per specs it does not play formats other than DivX - like MKV, from the USB port.

No signs of image retention, though I have played it sufficiently long with the cable TV logo.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, what is the best distance for SD content? Most at home would be watching the SD content. Is there lot of tweaking to be done for SD content?

Also, Did you happen to check the neoPDP panels and how does GT20 compare with them?

I'm now in a dilemma as to whether I should go for the 42GT20 or the 42ST30 or simply take that BIG step toward the 50VT20!!

My biggest concern is the viewing distance for SD content (1st sofa is at 12" and 2nd one at a 30 degree angle at 6")!

The GT20 is now retailing at 50k and comes with 2 glasses and 2D->3D conversion as well.

Too many options to choose from is sometimes also a hassle :p

PS: 24 hours before I decide which direction to proceed. Have to keep the Sony ads from distracting me - the heart sometimes overrules the mind you see ;)

I am in the same boat. The max distance we have is around 9 feet. So 42" is what i have to opt. BTW, GT20 is available for less than 50K in B'lore.

Well, the website says neoPDP, but people here have said otherwise.

If I remember correctly (from 3 hours ago i.e.) I saw "neo PDP" and "infinity symbol" on the sticker highlighting features on the bezel of a 42GT20. I'm 99% sure that i saw them, and 100% sure that the sales guy confirmed it.
