Looks like a narrow fit i your cabinet.. Anything bigger, you could have remade the whole thing. :)

@ Blasto, I initially measured the cabinet and then decided the TV :) It's a perfect fit. But still find adding cable (in the rear) is tough. Planning to get a stretch wall mount from Jenefas.

Congrats Prem. good thing you checked for usage.

Use Zoom 1/2/3 while watching DTH channels for atleast 2-3 months.

Use "pixel orbiter"

IMO , buy a CAT5 cable , 2 HDMI , 1 optical cable , all will cost around 1K at max , and connect it and run the cables where they are easily accessible.. Its not wise to keep moving the TV too often.

@ Naveen. Thanks to all fellow member for helping check the usage. I was wondering how the panasonic guys (or matter of fact any manufacture) take the customer for granted and pass demo /used piece as a new one!!!

Yup i did the same for cables. Bought 3 HDMI cables, 1 LAN cable and USB extender (for side) and fixed it before wall mounting. It was cheaper option than going for a stretch wall mount ;)

BTW in some review it seems that ST30 has backlit remote, but i received a normal remote. Can some one confirm?

Its for U.S version i suppose, i too didnt get one.

As for passing demo piece , The panny guys (assuming you got from dealer) , just come for installation and issue the initial warranty card and possibly demo the set. Dealers are the ones who do these nasty stuff. Infact companies should give shop owners a demo piece each and also some label / or even logo , permanently engraved onto the sets so that they cant sell the demo sets. After certain time , these shop owners can sell these demo or company itself can sell at dirt cheap price with very limited warranty. So that genuine buyers arent tricked into getting a demo piece.

BE very careful the intial 100-20 hours. If you ask me , use ZOOM 3 at all time and avoid news channels , since even with use of zoom 3 some bars will be there .

The TV was bought from Panasonic Brand shop and not from dealers !!! The installation guy did a very very low quality installation and didn't even have proper screw for wall mount.

Yup taking care of using ZOOM 3 every time.

BTW have you calibrated the picture setting? can you please pass the setting if you have..

Thats really unacceptable. You can write to panny india (main office) .. Never expected panny brand shop to sell a demo piece

Many settings posted are carefully calibrated after the break-in using slides for X hours. Since i dint use any of these , I am just using my own setting. Also i havent set anything in particular , as i am just running the set , with color setting below 50% , I just want to run it for another 2-3 months like this , then step up the contrast and brightness of my liking.

To be very honest , the default settings are simply too good. except true cinema setting which has more golden shade and low brightness ( from my POV ), others are good.

Each have thier own preference , also many use service menu to tweak the color setting , which i ATM not comfortable with..

The tv's already calibrated at factory, and these settings are unique .

Settings of other TV wont be perfect for ours, and panel aging matters too.

IMO,before trying anything note down the default settings in service menu.

So,if you want to get the max from your tv, you need to professionally calibrate

your tv for every 300-500hrs

@ Vidy. thanks. I don't want to mess around the service menu. Like Naveen said not very comfortable.

Let me wait for 200 Hrs for break in and then set the picture setting to my preference.

What this set can produce at default setting itself is more than sufficient IMO.

The brightness too at +1 (current setting) and contrast of 58(using it to age the phosphor a little faster.. dont try) , with these setting itself , the overall brightness is very pleasant for me.

When i cross 200 or even more hours , I might notch both a little , but with 50" , its already too bright for me at night..

@Vidy , you are very right. Also navigating in service menu seems a little complicated (saw a video on youtube) .

Today i saw Pixel Orbiter in action.. Have to say it was excellent piece of idea.. The screen first started to show black borders on one side , and then it reduced to halk and then same thing happened to opp side.

Just wanted to confirm that the 3d goggle given free with st30 is a rechargeable one or not?

I have bought a 42st30 recently and the 3d goggle they have given with it is not a rechargeable one. Its model number is TY-EW3D10. I was told that it has a life of 10k hours. But the TV manual depicts a rechargeable goggle, so just wanted to confirm which goggle is given free with the TV?

I got a rechargeable one TY-EW3D2SW , but its for 50ST30 , dont know if they give the same 3D glass for 42" too

I guess for ST30 you should get rechargeable glasses. Even my dealer initially gave me an battery type. Confronting him with manual other other details, he said that it was a mistake and would replace. After some time i was informed that the new glasses are out of stock and would replace the battery one with rechargeable one once they receive the stock :mad:

Still waiting for the new glasses :indifferent14:

I see a lot of discussion going on about ir and burn in.
I have been using plasma sets for a while now and I can tell you that ir is a non issue.
Image burn may only happen if used as a pc monitor. Surely watching daily tv will not cause any ir or burn in.
Also ir is by definition temporary and image burn is uneven ageing of the panel. Image burn can be healed by white washing the screen.

well, i am planning to use it with my laptop just to play games, this will also create burn in?
