Panasonic ST30 Owners Thread

The guy in the pana showroom refused to believe that there was a way to check how long the tv has run. He says there is no way to get into the SRV tool. And this comes from a guy in the Pana brand shop. Quite a frustrating situation. Anyways have called him home today to give a demo of the SRV tool ;)

/facepalm , nowadays service guys are pathetic. they are taught the bare minimum stuffs just to get through the common issues.

Fortunately , the demo guy(panny) who came for me knew what a A-Board was. Fluctuating brightness is supposed to be rectified through A-board replacement.

why didnt you check the usage when they (dealer/demo guy) came for installation ?

I don't have 3D Blue Ray player. Will this ST30 play downloaded 3D movies?
What is the maximum size it can play and what is encoding type it accepts?

@Naveen- At the time of the installation i could not navigate to the SRV tool as i was pressing the volume- button on the remote instead of the one on the tv. I figured that one out later once the installation guy left.

Anyways the update is that the showroom guy refused to come home yesterday saying that he could not come home at my convenience(I am seething as i write this!!). I decided that there was no point talking to the the sales guy and asked him to put me on to the manager(shop owner). I was surprised when he said that even the technical service guys did not know how to check the SRV tool, but now that i had found out that it was a used piece i would be replaced one by wednesday/thursday as they had asked for a replacement from the company. I do not know how much to trust/believe him as the sales guy did not mention this at all. I had already written a mail to the customer helpline on Friday. This has been one helluva bad experience.

Have written to the institutional sales head(mumbai). There is no contact on the pana website for the retail head. Is anyone on this forum aware of the contact for retail sales(LCD/plasma) for Mumbai?

Anyone knows Panasonic's wall mounting charges for P50ST30D after 1 month... i purchased it on 5th May, however, not wall mounted as interior work was in progress.....

As far as I know you can call them within 3 months and it is free.

Is it good buy the 42ST30D imported in Aug 2011 ?

My main concern is it is imported in Aug 2011, which seems to a long period.
Is there any updates to TV ?

I have been refused replacement of my ST30 after having been promised a replacement. The company guy says that he does not have a fresh set and he will not be able to return my money since i have bought it under finance. The company guy himself told me that they sell demo pieces and they are there to be sold. They were completely unapologetic about not telling me that i was being delivered a piece that was run for 130 hours. It been almost a month and i have not watched my television. I am planning to write the whole episode to the heads at panasonic india and if i get a similar response from them will go to the consumer court. Anybody who went to the consumer court here ? Please share your experience of the outcome. Does anyone here know someone in panasonic India. Wanted the email ids of the top guys there(i have already checked the ones on the website)

Simple , ask whoever you are contacting with to give it a written letter. Dealers ARE supposed to give a brand new one , not a used item , then there is no point in giving a premium to the product.

Post here https://www.facebook.com/panasonicindia along with your TV serial no and if possible a screenshot of the usage(SRV Tool).

Well they can sell demo piece , but i think it should be well informed to the customer before the purchase. The loan you took ,itself is for a new product not a used one.

I have booked 42ST30 but I have to ship it from Chennai to my native( 400 kms around) . One of my colleagues who also nearer to my native has WagonR and I am planning to carry the TV using his vehicle . My doubt is , whether the WagonR can accommodate 42ST30 with packing? I don't know how much big it will be. those who own 42ST30 please share your ideas. Also I read that Plasma TVs must be transported in upright position.

I brought my P42ST30D in my Dzire. Obvsiously the pack did not enter into the dicky of the dzire. I had to somehow manage to push it in the rear seat. It was a 30 KM journey for me to bring to my apartment from the showroom. I doubt, if it would enter into the WagonR..!!

@kingfisher

See if your dealer / shop has a branch in your native place or in nearby city. Usually they will call up those shop / dealer and arrange for the TV which you can procure it locally.

As far as i heard , due to the plasma content , the traveling and handling should be kept as minimum as possible.
