Panasonic ST30 Owners Thread

The dealer I bought from is Croma and they don't have branch near by my native (Erode). They refused to ship and they ship only max 25 kms radius from Chennai. They told one more branch is coming up in Coimbatore after 3 or 4 months.

If it does not fit, surely a problem for me

check with viveks , if it all it has a branch in erode.

contact viveks and tell them that you are willing to buy st30. see if the price is ok for you , if not t, bargain..

dont be in a hurry. after talking with viveks and having them as back up , now negotiate with croma to arrange for delivery at erode.

I have been quoted 72K with one free glass for the UT30 - is it a good price to buy since its last years model?

I need to buy urgently this weekend, Samsung has officially told no additional warranty on Plasma - so I am a bit apprehensive on putting money on the 51E550 although it is available for 74 with blu ray player.

Please help me out - current dilemma is a 75K fight off between UT30 and 51E550.

my only complaint against UT30 is the cost of additional glasses

This is real real urgent.pls help me out

Couldnt find a UT30 thread so posted here.pls excuse

Hi Folks,

When I bought my 42 ST30 I was offered the standard 3 year warranty. I was just wondering if Panasonic offers any extended warranty beyond the three year warranty. Has anybody inquired and/or availed it?

Thanks!

Why don't you visit Devi International in Jayanagar 3rd Block with some reference movies/clips on a USB drive/ HDD. Some time back they had both 51E550 and 42UT30 in the showroom. You can do a side by side comparison by playing the same material on them and then take a call on what suited best for your eyes. Just ensure settings are similar on both TVs :)

I think they do - you can buy it, however you can still check with Panasonic support.

Hello Guys,
Thanks to HIFI Vision i bought my 42ST30 last month and the pictures are just brilliant.
However i m having some problem with specific file formats which are not playing audio
can someone help me fix this problem? will a firmware upgrade fix this? if so how can i get it done.

Thanks

Picked mine up for 57k with two 3D glasses. Absolutely loving the image quality so far. HD stuff looks sublime.

But also having the same problem as Sunnymagic above where some formats dont play audio.

Aside from that, no complains. Its lovely.

Bad buying experience with Croma.

Today they delivered the P42ST30 from Croma. I was given only one 3D eye wear but while booking I was told it comes with 2 glasses. The eye wear also looked very old and I am not sure whether a used one or new. They also shipped the TV using an Ordinary auto and you all know how shaky an Auto in Chennai roads. They also refused to deliver out station. I thought since it is a Tata group, their service will be nice but I was disappointed.

I want to know usually what is the number of eyewears comes with this model?

As far as I know/remember, the P42ST30D used to be bundled with one pair of 3D glasses only. But if the agent said 2 glasses, then you should get two glasses. Does it say so on the invoice?

[IMG2]http://hollywoodinhidef.com/wp-content/uploads/FullHD3DGlasses.jpg[/IMG2]The eyewear should be more or less spotless. Return them, if not satisfied. The Panasonic 2011 3D TV series were using proprietary IR interface/sync. You will not benefit from the new universal 3D glasses which are cheaper (available with 2012 series). Good thing about these glasses is that you don't have to buy from Panasonic but any manufacturer sporting the following logo shown here. But that is always something we have to live with because what was in vogue yesterday is out of date today. But you should definitely return the eyewear if it looks old, scratched, etc.

On the whole, I have always had disappointments with Croma:
  • never properly stocked
  • tendency to pass off display pieces
  • too much diversity and hence very little specialization
  • limited range because of above
  • reasonably OK for standard consumer white goods but very poor on electronics
  • not competitively priced and inflexibility on pricing
  • delivery within limited range

Bad luck with the delivery bro - check out the unit for any damages, usage hours (might be a demo piece) etc and if that is okay, everything is fine.

I got my P42ST30 installed on Wednesday. :). Finally I have managed to ship it without any damages. I am surprised to see the PDP as It was very thin and screen was so dark. With lot a of expectations and anxiety(because most of the times I get disappointed) from reviews and forums , I played the Gladiator full HD and the first time I experienced the electronic excellence of Panasonic Plasma. It was just amazing and visually appealing and pleasing. It just kept me visually engaged. HD content is not as pleasing as Full HD but good.(Striking fact is most of my contents are HD). SD I did not check as I planned to view cable tv using my Sony Trinitron which is in Hall and keep my plasma in bed room for movie watching because of IR problems problems.

I thank all in this forum for helping me to choose this TV which is my second Gadget chosen after my Cowon S9 both I enjoy very much and never regretted.

The disappointing one is Croma the dealer who promised me to give 2 3D glasses and wireless keyboard.

I have few doubts:

1. Can I improve HD quality by using Component video cable or any other means ? Right now I have only RCA (Red,white ,yellow) cables. If so is there any good quality component video and audio cables? (I heard belkin)
2.Will the wireless key board usually comes with 42ST30? it is not mentioned in invoice and I was told that it will be included.

1. PQ will definitely be better with component cable (Y-Pb-Pr). If the length is not too large (less than 1.5 m), you need not purchase expensive cable. A moderate quality component cable will work. Have a look at the cable and judge its quality.

2. AFAIK, the ST30 does not come with any wireless KB. But if the dealer promised that, please insist.

Are you not using HDMI? Or may be you have SD DTH/Digital cable box?

You will be hard pressed for enjoying your HD-TV without HDMI. You will be better off if you switch to HD-DTH or HD-Cable.

But your HD downloads will be fine.
