Pansonic XT50 owners thread

for those who dont need HT - you get 50XT50 for 50K without glasses.

let me check my TV for the whitish screen later

Not sure where did this come from? Did someone ask for it (price/offer details) or this is to justify yourself with quality vs price compromise...

Ok I checked my TV - First I looked at the screen turned off and then turned on with a black picture - the TV when turned on definitely is brighter compared to turn off - Guess this is what you are referring to. It has a slight greyish glow to it and definitely does not blend into the frame which is 100% black. Is this what you too are experiencing?

Slight greyish glow is what you will see. Same with VT20 also..
The pic that lcdfreak posted is a white glow like LCD tv. Infact worser..

Iam close to pulling the trigger on the XT50 for my acquitance. But if this is how it looks in the dark, I will drop the decision. 50k for 42" 3D with free home theatre looked too good to be true anyway..

Can you post pics too?

@lcdfreak : Is your contrast and brightness <= 50?? Else, change that and test again..
Reduce them all the way to 0 and post pic again with black wall paper. That is the minimum luminance.

Settings I am using are:

Contrast: 25
Brightness: -25
Color: 25
Sharpness:25-30

This is essentially shocking to me as well. How can a Plasma look dreadful like above,

Also I paid 48K with 2 Glasses...bargain

Not exactly..
Closer and closer to black but not complete black.

Guys..This is not when I turn on TV...Even in showroom I could see XT is greysish and ST30 fro last year was blackish....

Thus, I am not comparing that bit. :-)

Above is while I am switching sources..Also above pic is not my Plasma..

It from AVS Forum..Last year people had this issue with GT30 as well....

I will click my plasma and post it later..my cameras cable is missing

Also this is known as UNEVEN BRIGHTNESS .....

However trust me my plasma look equally bad...

Brightness is 25 or -25? You have posted both.
+25 will have the screen as white only I suppose.. It is unwatchable in VT20 atleast. Not sure of the XT.

Well I am not trying to justify anything and I am not quoting unrealistic prices which no one is getting at this point of time either

oh yeah this is in response to Blasto mentioning he was thinking of buying the XT50 for someone. Since he is in Hyd - he can get a 50 incher for 50 rather than a 42 incher for 48 - of course HT is also a differential here.

50 vs 48 and

also zero glasses vs 2 Glasses,,,, Thus the difference is above 10K

Here are my photos of XT50 at night. During daytime the greyish brightness looked bright - but at night time with all lights out - it is not that bright and in fact most of my settings are between 50-60.

The first picture is that of star news. The video is only 70% of the screen the outer 30% is a black rectangle - so one can test black video here

The second picture is of the TV with a black photo. Maybe if I lowered the shutter speed you can see more light. The picture is 90% of what I actually see - maybe its 10% brighter which due to higher shutter speed is not visible in this picture. But nothing like my old LCD though

I agree. Since I work in a company where people constantly travel outside India and also since I have HT - I did not need either the 3d Glasses or the HT - so for me getting 50 inches at 50K was a sweet deal. I got 4 samsung glasses for 55 pounds - so I guess I can add 5K to my cost price including 4 glasses.

From what I read in other posts this is not a great HT and Panasonic is only trying to get rid of non moving stock and also as a match for Samsung offering the 3D player. Again something others have mentioned - They could be wrong

Hey lcdfreak.. When are you posting photos?
If it is a (very) bleak grey completely uniform background not capturable with camera with auto mode, you are ok.
Otherwise I think there is a problem..

It should be "zero glasses vs 1 Glass and not 2 Glasses" + HT.

Hey, where are you enquiring?

Did you get the 48k figure anywhere?

I got 51.9k with 2 glasses + HT from 2 places. Not negotiated.
If you are getting lesser, let me know. Will go for a group buy.

IMO, you will quickly realize 42" is too small if it is not for bedroom. I got a 50" and feel it is small already.

And believe me, glasses and 3D at all is practically useless.. I used 3D max 1-2 hours in my VT20.. Utter waste in a 42" I can guarentee..

So 50" for 50k is good..

@Pralhads

If you haven't checked out plasma in home condition, you can visit my place dude.. You will realize why I say 50" is better and 3D is shit..
