Hi

Purchased last week Denon Avr X-2000 Rs 52,900/-
I also bought Denon Avr X -1OOO two weeks back Rs. 38,900/-

It has just arrived. Yet to install it. I read that it has got a good DAC (Burr Brown) in it.
I will be driving Infinity kappa coaxials, Infinity sub and Kicker speakers through Hertz HE4 amp.

To tell about the performance of this new JVC receiver in one word; 'Crap'.
I mean the basic Pioneer HU which I had earlier sounded like crap compared to this (yup its not a fair comparison)
But this one is truly audiophile grade. It seems that all other components sprang to life after this upgrade. They sound totally refreshing.
The music is so detailed, dynamic and revealing especially with ACDs. And it has all the bells and whistles you would expect from a modern stereo receiver. Its worth every penny.

Thanks Spiro. It was a good deal on Snapdeal. Paid around 11.5k after two level discount. But IMO this is worth to buy even at MRP (14k).

I do not know whether this counts or not.

Here goes.... Bought a 2 TB WD Caviar black yesterday from Prabhu (Prabhu.ME) in Thrissur. Received it in very good condition. Now to get it working. This is in addition to the 1 TB WD green that is now a bit under the weather.. An full analysis will get me to the truth.

Do you think this HU can improve sound on stock speakers?

It certainly will. But it will be a gross under utilisation of the potential of this receiver especially if there is no external amp.

I thought Infinity Kappa are great coaxials but was not totally convinced. But after HU upgrade they sound so good. I understood that they all complement each other. Good speakers complement good amp compliment good HU; they all work in tandem.

So best is to upgrade speakers and get an external amp (even entry level like the one I have will do). HUs barely manage 15W continuous RMS which are not likely sufficient to get the best out of upgraded speakers. Minimum 60W per channel is suggested.

My next plan is to get components fitted, which I hope will sound even better.

Hi Vinod, did you get a good price on it from your source? I use Reds in general btw. but the added security of black must be good to have.

HI Staxxx,

I did and it does feel quite heavy as compared to the 1 TB WD green that I have. Almost two and half times it's weight.

I did some research. Found that the blacks have better speed 7200 rpm as compared to 5200 in the green and importantly that the heads do not touch the platter (I do not know how far that is true!) and some more info comparing the two. I am planning to put some critical data in it and hope that it lives to its expectations.

Thanks staxxx and I thought that my purchase had slipped through with all the gadgets being bought by our fourm members!

I have NAD 375 BEE integrated amplifier and PSB synchrony-II speakers purchased recently .Played from Laptop and DAC is MDC from NAD.

I am quiet happy with the sound signature of the system. But I think Synchrony-II deserves better amplifier than this.

If any member of the forum has similar system, please enlighten me with his experience.
