Post your latest AV purchase(s)......

Did you received the Projector? Let's share your experience.... (Keen to know about the contrast level[emoji846])
Yes. Got it. Ran it with almost standard settings and played it against the wall and it looked good to me. Packed it back as my new house will be ready only in June. Watched TDK, transformers and a football match and it looked good. Ran it with auto iris on and frame interpolation off.

After a long research and debate cycle (mostly with my inner-self :p ) purchased Denon AVR-X2200W receiver. Delivered by Hifidemoroom at Thiruvananthapuram - Kerala.
MSRP - 69900 INR; cost me - 61500 INR.

Received the beauty today and playing with the settings.

Was using HTiB - Onkyo HT-S580 5.1 Channel Home Theater System for the last 9 years and an upgrade was imminent with technology evolving every year.

Was looking for a receiver with support for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X as well as Auro 3D. While there are many blu-rays with atmos sound track, could find only one blu-ray (Ex-Machina) with a DTS:X track and nothing on the Auro 3D.

The first part of the research lead me to Denon AVR-X4200W since it was perfect for my requirement. (The cost of Denon AVR-X4200W was 1.25L quoted at TRV)

Realizing the scarcity of the DTS:X and Auro 3D material, thought of getting a good receiver with basic Dolby Atmos support (5.1.2) for the time being. This will help me in enjoying the 3rd dimension of sound. Also I am not sure by what time DTS:X and Auro 3D will be take the center stage along with Dolby Atmos and whether spending 1.2L for the receiver at this stage will be good or to wait for 3 more years and get a high end receiver.

This lead me to Denon AVR-X2200W with 5.1.2 support and DTS:X support (upgrade).

Why decided on Denon - My old Onkyo receiver had to travel twice in the last 9 years to the service center and each time I had to send this packed to Chennai to get it serviced - This was a serious head ache. The search for a service center in TRV, helped me in shortlisting Denon and also the positive reviews from various forums helped me pull the trigger.

Currently using the onkyo speakers from my old HTiB setup and ordering SVS PB1000 (quoted 42k) along with Onkyo SKH-410 atmos speakers (quoted 17.5k) soon.

After this upgrade cycle, need to save some money to replace FR, FL, Centre and surrounds by Polk Audio/Klipsh.

Hope to get my HT room ready by the end of 2016, wish me luck ;)

@Srnair
Enjoy the Denon AVR with the current set of speakers.
Since your HT room will be ready in a year, you have time to pool in moolah for a new set of speakers. Take it slow.

Cheers,
Raghu

Congratulations!!! Once your theater is complete, I would like to drop in to see the beast in action
Meanwhile, I purchased onkyo skf-4800 floor standing speakers last week from hifidemoroom :)

Good to hear that....planned to buy earlier, but later changed my mind to opt for 5030, still in research! Thank u & Enjoy.

Finally upgraded (or say degraded) from Onkyo Sr-603 to Pioneer VSX-524-K, bought it from Singapore at S$ 360. The onkyo was around 8-9 yrs old, so the VSX gave a completely new life to my speakers. The onkyo even started to show issues with central channel, and I wanted a basic 5.1 AV receiver. For the time I seem to be happy with the deal.

Finally, got all my system in place :)

Klipsch Reference Premiere Floorstands, Center, Surrounds
SVS PB13 Ultra
Denon X4000

Everything in place.
Check my signature for the pics :)

Cheers,
Aditya

Mate, pls can you PM me the prices of all your gear (speakers/proj/avr/screen/cables)- a friend of mine is looking to set up a HT. A starting price ref would be wonderful - rather than him having to start all over again.
cheers

Congratulations on your purchase; love the towers :clapping: - I had my eyes on some towers but after putting up the screen, there is not much headroom for a 3+ feet tower.

Also I am without a subwoofer now. Ordered SVS PB 1000 and as per the dealer (hi-filink - COK) it is in transit and I need to collect it from COK next week. Eagerly waiting for that. :licklips:

great... how much did it cost you? I am also in the pursuit of a sub as I am still running on stock one, but before that I need to get a good center + surrounds

Its quoted 42K - Cash and Carry...

Got the beauty home..:yahoo: The thunder on Amaze atmos sample was well received by the ladies at home :ohyeah: - complaining about the rattling windows and doors.

I am more than excited on the experience with the pure bass, with out the boom and punch on chest...

Have ordered SVS SoundPath Subwoofer Isolation System from amazon.com (reached delhi) which got good reviews and hopefully will stop the window/door rattling. ;)
