Post your latest AV purchase(s)......

Placed an order for Marantz PM6005 and awaiting delivery. KEF Q300 speakers bought in December. Initially thought of going for Yamaha A-S501 - higher specs. But then listened to Marantz PM5005 and liked it. Opted for 6005 as it has more connectivity options and DAC. The waiting is soo terrible...

Lovely. Could you please write up a review and yes do post some pictures.

I think its still early days - and lot of limitations from my end...I still don't have a good source to play ...I use my mac / iPad to play mp3s...

But then I have some flac files and they sound good...

I have used the 'loudness' option most often to wow my audience :ohyeah: - since the 'source direct' option for my files always sounds terrible....

With the mp3s that I have - I feel the bass is a bit too much...and I use the bass / treble option most often to adjust...

I am racking my brains on how to best test the unit...but until then I am listening to it with my mp3s....generally a r rahman tracks sounds too good...the bass is like thunder in the background and most often creates room shaking jaw dropping sound when the volume is at 10 o'clock....

I will try ads / flac files more and let you know the results...but all in all its simply awesome...i don't feel the need for 5 speakers for theatre effects as the 2 speakers itself rumbles....:)

Sir, some cabling layout will add more beauty in your system.
Cheers!

Awesome. Thanks for the initial impressions. Thats a nice wall unit you have there. Is it vented though?

For a source you could get started with Raspberry Pi3. I just added it as my source and learning my way slowly. Initial Impressions are fantastic. My earlier source was a 1Tb hard disk connected to USB of a Philips Bluray player. The same hard disk is connected to the Raspberry and I see a noticeable improvement.

If you like the overall sound, no more change is required.
One suggestion though. If you can place your speakers 2-3 feet away from the wall so that there is an air gap between speakers and the wall, you'll be amazed to see what q300 can do actually. You might like your system even more. IMHO. YMMV. [emoji4]

Agree totally...planning to do that. I still haven't completed the fixing of the cabinets entirely since there is gap between two of them. Once that is done - next target would be cable arrangement!! Thanks for the heads up!:)

Saint - thanks - I want to do that...but I have a 1.5 year old curious girl who is forever on the lookout for potential 'targets'. Hence, I thought , until she is of an age when I can convince her not to touch the speakers - it is safer to mount them at a height she can't reach. Thanks again for the feedback!!:)

The wall unit is not vented - generally I leave the door slightly open. I can't find a way to vent it without damaging the integrity of the wall unit structure...

Can you elaborate more on what you do with the Raspberry Pi3?

You can download some free HD audio tracks from the Internet or purchase an audiophile cd from amazon.in.

Audiodoc,

I already did that. I was trying to figure out when does the in-built DAC come into play for the amp. I understood this after some reading / research. I have some HD audio i believe - 'B&W presents Very Audiophile New Recordings (2004)' and 'Daft Punk - Tron Legacy'. But then I have VLC player only on my Mac - is that enough to check? Or is there any other player I have to use?

Thanks!!

Very wise decision. Let the time be on our side and let's pray our little ones gets enough maturity very soon just to understand not to play with daddy's toys.

I believe she will become a true audiophile very soon.

All the best!

I tried the 'B&W presents Very Audiophile New Recordings (2004)' with VLC on my mac and 'source direct' option on the amp. It sounds brilliant - true test and display of what the amp and speaker is capable....the tones are just awesome...i can literally see the music .... :ohyeah::clapping::yahoo: (bit of exaggeration)

Picked up Marantz NR1606 from hifimart, great piece. The slim line series exceeded my expectation by comfortably driving my Z7 and rest of the setup.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
