Doing the Can-can.. two headphone bonanza.

Heard the hd800s first. That spoilt it for me. Nothing else, compared, though the audeze LCD3 came close. Not worse, but different. The LCD-x was nice but decidedly inferior.

Finally purchased the sennheiser hd800s and the sennheiser ie80

Audition through woo audio wa5 le.

Can anyone recommend a good SS headphone amp?

Sharing some of my experience with new entry to the setup.

I planned to buy Polk RTI A7 and CSI A4 as my current setup is running with 4.0 setup with polk tsx110 and owm3 so I took my AVR to the profx showroom for audition.

My AVR was connected with RTI A7, CSI A4 and FXiA4 surrounds in the demo room. He used denon DBT-1713UD as source and played Thuppakki (Tamil bluray) movie. Initially when the volume was around 35 (75 max) I was not happy with the performance because I used to run my AVR 25 with the bookshelves and it would sound better at home. If I increase to 35 then it woult start rock all over the room.

And then the demo guy explained that the FS speakers need more power so we had to crank the volume to 50. So we raised it to 50.....!!!!! Thats it... Its unbelievable for me the way it sounded for a Tamil bluray movie. I felt like I am watching movie in a theatre. Played some of the dolby demo videos and those also performed well but still I was not happy with the front towers as it required more power which my AVR could not give.

Coming to the CSi A4 center, I just bought it and brought it to home and hooked it with the already existing 4.0 polk setup. I felt there was a huge and huge difference with the sound. Dialogues were very sharp and cristal clear with sony receiver. This is more clearer than the yamaha 677 receiver I checked in the showroom. I would say SONY AVR also came into the best matching AVR for POLK.

Overall I am pretty happy with preformance of the center channel. The shop guy said do not buy the towers (even I have plans to buy it from a friend of a FM) as it requires more power and he suggested to buy denon 1520 stereo integrated along with. Due to budget constraints I dropped it at the moment. Probably I can save money, try some audition again and buy it.

Forgot to mention this point. Pure direct mode for movies had done a best job than a regular mode. Entire channel produced high fedelity and solid sharp sound.

Thanks....

Here is review of elekit amp by 6moons, it's a beautiful sounding amp very neutral and value for money. It can be easily compared with amp which is twice the price. I need to try with kt88 tubes.

The Leben CS300XS is a breathtakingly beautiful sounding amplifier. I heard it with a Zu Omen 2 and Rega CD player and just loved the way it lets you connect to the music emotionally, which hardly amps even 3 times it's price does. If you can buy the Leben at Rs 2.75 lacs ,it's the last amp you'll every buy. But..... If you are seeking huge dynamics ,brutal attack and plan to buy speakers with less than 89 db sesityvity look else where .

My recent purchasr Marantz sr 6011. I am using polk rti 7.1 package with this . This is a very good receiver with very balanced sound for both movies and music. Plenty of low ends. Producing good bass effect.
