Post your latest AV purchase(s)......

I got a LA40C550J1R for 53.5k. Its awsome for hd movies but okish for SDs/local cable. Can anyone help me out about its optimal settings during burn in period?
Are there any settings that must be used for initial xxx hours?

intial 100hrs break in is only for plasma tv not needed for lcd

Hi Santosh

Yes, Suri did mention about it when I spoke to him when at Shiva's place. But was just checking as there was no mention of it. Probably he is too busy savouring some unforgettable momnents with his new love.:ohyeah:

Cap'n, set up the whole thing only a few days back. Let me spend some quality time with it. :)
What about your latest purchase, the new AP bookshelves?

Sure Titus,

Hope you are having a great time already.

Regarding the AP Bookshelves, hmm, still checking. One thing is certain. They require a powerful amp with a lot of slam. My cl D amp is very musical but doesn't have the muscle to drive these speakers.

Thinking of tweaking the crossovers. Let's see.

Not exactly purchase but recently I came across with a gentleman who parted his father's LP collection , some 113 LPs mostly from Jazz, Western Classical and Indian Classical , all mouth watering titles!

Most of the LPs are in good condition (need some cleaning though). The guy was happy that some body , better looking, bettered dressed , English speaking Kabariwalah (that's me!) cleared the junk (?) from his place. In fact after seeing the value of the stock I offered him some compensation which he politely refused!

SuhasG(i),
Nice treasure you got it. It is waiting so long to reach the right master who can master it.

I am planning to rip my original BD's + old collection of DVD's. So long i waited for the media player for the HD audio support and now that it is in visible distance for xtreamer went ahead with. However i am planning to buy an popcorn hour in the future to stream. Also i would like to understand fully about the squeezebox and then venture into it, since i am not into music fully and now only an movie buff.

Regarding etrayz i am not much impressive on the reviews, since it was recently ventured into it and better to step into established leader, since I am also in the first step of NAS, so went with WD.

Regards

how do u plan to rip the BD's ,did u get a BD burner? am on the look out

if this is possible (it shud be) then the Xtreamer/HD will be worth for rent/rip/store/playback via Xtreamer/HDD. wud be saving from buying BD's

I will call you regarding above...:)

Sharing that useful info in the forum will help everyone:)

get an internal blu ray drive (abt 55-75 $ ) install into pc, external may be slightly pricier ,download and install any of the HD ripper (FAB or ANY), buy your xtreamer and HDD --you shud be ready now for Rent/rip/store/watch/delete/save :)

hi surender

will be planning to go this route very soon ,spent a lot on blurays and i find that very few (hardly) have repeat values and the rest of the time the BD's stay put in the shelfs,so thts not worth continued buying

saw your BD collection 122!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! x 1500 INR aprox each !!!!!!!!!!!!!! i think you need to go the rent/rip/watch/delete/save --- way :)

Yes Subash.I am thinking of the same too. But original blu-rays are not copy protected?

In fact the list is not updated with my most recent purchases. Spent lot of money on blu-rays and DVDs and hardly getting chance to watch them more than once, sometimes even once:sad:. But still buying as this has become a hobby to me, kind of addicted to be more specific:)

Got a few items on my recent trip to the US

1. Definitive Technology ProSub 200 TL

Thanks to santosh for providing the info for the piece. Was available for a bargain price of 90 USD as its a 5 yr old model although new and still with warranty and on top of it was a 240V version so nobody interested in it in the US.

2. Speaker Cables - 12 AWG from Blue Jeans Cable 100 ft - $62

3. Stereo cables from Blue Jeans Cable - 3ft - $34

I thought would have some issues esp. as the sub was a fairly large size package, but the custom officer heard my story and just let me go.
