Post your latest AV purchase(s)......

Got a few items on my recent trip to the US

1. Definitive Technology ProSub 200 TL

Thanks to santosh for providing the info for the piece. Was available for a bargain price of 90 USD as its a 5 yr old model although new and still with warranty and on top of it was a 240V version so nobody interested in it in the US.

Congrats on your purchase(s) mate:clapping:. The credit for that find should go to member, Dushie who first posted the link on some thread. So, how is the sub doing? Will drop in to your place sometime soon to checkout the sub. Enjoy!!

i recently bought a small NOS usb dac with a tube buffer from a Japanese company called musica. i am investing in a dac to access the burgeoning collection of good quality music in my laptop..
price: 15K
dealer: ARN
the specs are as follows...
Frequency Response(-3.0dB) 1~40kHz
sampling Frequency 32, 44.1, 48kHz
OS Window 2000 or later, Mac OSX
Power 220V/ 50,60Hz, 30W,
the music is clear and detailed..the tube adds a hint of analogue smoothness to the sound..i am quite happy with this purchase and when comparing the retail prices both in Europe and Japan, apparently i have been given a very good deal..
thanks mr. sridhar...
pictures and other details are here musica

Then thanks to Dushie too. Havent found the right place to keep the sub, either too boomy or too faint, will experiment. Your sub cable and the y adaptor are with me.

Sud98's was kind enough to let me borrow his sub for testing in my room. It is a fanstastic sub for movies and is a huge bang for the buck. It tends to boom a little for music, but miles ahead of the jamo sub that I own. At quarter tilt of the level(volume) knob, it begins to shake the room.

Great buy Sudhir!! Enjoy. I will be ordering mine soon, thinking of getting two of these - one at a time. Will borrow your sub again to test if I need two:ohyeah:.

Why two??? You need to rename your HT to "Earth Quake Zone"

hey sud - how much did you have to pay for shipping? Someone posted in another thread that he had to pay 4k inr to the airlines to get an avr.

The Y cable from BJC has been purchased with this in mind:). Alternatively, I might go in for a Buttkicker or Bass-Shaker.

Recent purchases include a Subwoofer cable from BJC, a Y cable and a Project 2 Experience Turntable:licklips:.

Since traveling from the US allows for two pieces of luggage, this sub was my second piece. It weighed around 18kgs shipped, so it was within the 23 kgs limit. So no problems on the airlines front.

Spiro, the LC1 is finally an RCA cable so beyond 9ft, I think physics will make them lose the higher frequencies. I dont think its a good idea to have long runs of analog cables. Mine is three feet so dont face much issues.

Spiro, the story was that its a 5 year old model which got left out due to inventory issues and was overstocked material and since it was a 240v version there were no buyers for the same and hence it was sold at eqvt of 5000 Rs. when I told this he accepted it and let me go through. Since it was from ebay my other option was to show that its still on ebay and he could check it, but didnt need to go through it.

Actually, it was the truth. As I had multiple conversations with the company Deftech and the seller on ebay. I am bad at lying but very convincing with truthful matters :)

Hi All,

I have recently joined this forum.......recently after that in a small time i have made a small HT setup.....but the story is very interesting....here it goes

1) Have bought Denon AVR1604 from one of our forum members
2) When it reached me i tried to connect my existing HT speakers & woofers to it (Sany DAV-DZ270)...but realised that speakers are working but woofer doesn't and would also require a DVD player....
3) Than i have discussed this wid one of our forum member and realized that passive sub will need a mono amplifier for driving it....or else powered sub is required
4) Finally i decided to go for a new sub and hence bought a new sub ....Wharfedale SW150...(After extensive search on our forum)

5) After this also, i was not happy wid the performance of my HT...hence done lot of research and discussion wid our members.....i realised the sony speakers are not capable of delivering the desired output ............and hence again my search has began for good speakers..........

6) After quite some research i have found 1 deal locally (Ahmedabad).....Whar Diamond 8.4 tower, 8 Centre, and DFS..... i have auditioned Jamo 406, 606 and wharf 8.4 and end up buying wharfedale........:yahoo:

7) Instead of DVD player i have bought Seagate Theatre PLUS HD media player....

Here are the commercials of my HT package
1) Denon AVR 1604 - 9500 + 1900 shipping = 11400
2) Seagate HD media player - 7800
3) Wharf SW150 Sub - 18000
4) Wharf 8.4tower+ centre + DFS - 27500

Total - 11400+7800+18000+27500 = 64700/-

My plan for near future....is to add the follwing items
1) HD TV (Plasma/LCD/LED)
2) Upgrading the AVR to HD AVR
3) Since, i have bought new flat i would require the experts help in properly arranging my HT in new flat.....(area of the room for HT is 19 x 10)
4) A Blue Ray Player....

Requesting all you to express your view on this and provide me your suggestions :clapping:

Regards
Amit

Nice to read that you are enjoying setup. If you get BDp with 5.1 analoge out,you can connect to current AVR(if they have 5.1in)

Hi,

I just bought an Emotiva setup for my main theatre

UMC-1 pre pro

and

UPA-7 Power Amp.

photos will follow.

Purchased online from emotiva, had them ship to borderlinx, who shipped to here.

I had the UMC-1 for a few days before the UPa-7 came in, and was driving it using the multichannel input of my Yamaha reciever.

the umc-1+ yam the sound was noticably cleaner than just the yam (but did not do a proper a-b) comparision.

issues with the umc-1 include very slow response to the hdmi changes (lose the first 2 seconds of audio) and sometimes it does not work for audio cd / sa-cd via hdmi (from the bdp) if the projector is off. (solved the audio cd problem by also connecting a digital in) - this is firmware 6.14 (not the latest)

umc1+yam versus umc1+upa7 has been more difficult to judge.

the upa7 definitely times a lot better with music (everything is just a bit more rhythmic) and it is a hell of a lot louder than I'll ever take it in my house. however, IMHO, the Yamaha has a much warmer sound. of course the yam has run for 2000+ hours and the upa7 just arrived yesterday, so maybe a comparison is unfair.

with multichannel (Esp SA-CD), it's not much of a contest, the umc1+upa7 is clearly ahead of the umc1+yam even though it's fresh out of the box.

i'm sure things will only get better:yahoo:

Hi Kapvin,

congrats on your new addition and after breakin period look forward for your comparision.

Regards
