KVN

I got an sms and email from letsbuy on the same day i placed my order. 'My Account' in letsbuy also shows the transaction as confirmed. Three days later they informed me that my area is unserviceable. So i gave them two alternate addresses. But no reply about despatch of the item. I'm fed up with calling them and sending emails. The sad thing is that this order was placed for a friend of mine and it is his money:sad:.

@kevian - congrats on your purchase. Android may seem a little geeky to you at first, but once you get to explore its full power you wont go back to any other phone.
@baijuxavior - sorry to hear about your plight; letsbuy is a genuine seller as far as I know; you should'nt loose your money at any cost.

Got my Sherwood BDP 5004 yesterday. I bought it from our forum member muks1224 thanks to srinisundar, for Rs. 8k.

http://www.hifivision.com/sale-owner/17854-sherwood-bluray-player-bdp-5004-relisting.html

It was a pleasant experience dealing with muks1224. He despatched the player the same day i made the payment. Thank you muks1224.

Also bought an HDMI cable worth Rs. 120/- from ebay. At first i decided to go for a belkin cable costing around Rs. 700/-. But after reading the thread http://www.hifivision.com/audio-video-cables/18177-dont-waste-your-money-high-priced-hdmi-cable-new-post.html, I opted for this. The cable looks sturdy and can be used as a skipping rope:D

Now a quick review of the player:

muks1224 despatched the player in double packing and all the items were intact. The package contained BDP, remote control, a pair of batteries, av cable and manual. No HDMI cable. I connected the player to my panasonic 26" hd lcdtv using hdmi cable. The player has square power pins. Luckily i had a power srtip. When i turned the player on, there was a sound in the player for 1-2 sec, probably the transport moving. This sound was there also when i loaded dvds and cds. But it lasted for 1-2 seconds only. After setting the initial settings, I connected the analogue outputs to my 5.1 speaker system. The player has 7.1 analogue output. Now comes the real problem. The remote interferes with the speaker system and vice versa. If i try to stop the playback it mutes the speaker. When i pause, it turns off the speaker. When pressing the enter button, the surround speaker volume increases and so on:sad:. Also when i tried to increase the speaker volume using its remote control, the settings option pops up:cool:.

I tried to play a few mp4 files with h264 and aac audio codecs. The sound was not in proper order -there wasn't any bass effect throuh the sub woofer, centre channel plays through the Right speaker etc. With audio files and 2 channel video clips only the front L and R works, so absolutely no bass. However it worked correctly with mkv files with ac3 codec, dvd disks etc.

The player was unable to detect NTFS formatted pendrive. You need to format it to FAT32 or FAT. Also, the player stutters when playing some DVDs. I don't have any blu-ray disks to check the multi region capability. So if you ask am i satisfied my answer would be no atleast now. But that may change when my region a and b disks arrive. Also i need to upgrade to an AVR and BS speakers to get the right feeling.

Edit:
I converted the mp4 videos to mkv using mp42mkvac3. It took around 5 minutes to convert a 2gb video to mkv on my laptop. Now the sounds are reproduced through the correct speakers. The subtitle is too small to read and by default it is off. So I need to manually turn it on. There is no option to change subtitle size, color, location etc. Interestingly the player played two of my scratched dvd discs perfectly. These two discs were not playable in my pioneer and lg dvd players and pc dvd drive.

Congrats on your purchase.

You can probably buy a universal remote to circumvent the remote interference.

For the other problems, do note that blu ray players have limitations like NTFS reading or reading files >4gb or formats which need to be resolved via a media player or to enable network streaming (if your player supports it).

Got the Onida BDX1110 from Reliance Digital for 4888/- I must say it was an impulse purchase since it was a so-called "one day offer" .

Haven't had a real opportunity to test all features yet. But, overall looks good for that price :-)

My experience with letsbuy.com is the other way. I ordered an LG T325 phone for my friend on 23/5 Monday. I waited 3 days but didn't get any message from them regarding despatch of the item. So on 26/5 I sent an email to their CC. I also called them and all i could hear was that pre-recorded message - "Your call is very important to us. Please stay online". So i stayed online for five minutes and finally hangup only to see that Rs.7 being deducted from my phone balance. The number is NOT TOLL FREE. I sent email again to their CC. But got no reply. I called them again two more times, and this time someone answered me. He said that the item has been despatched yesterday. So i requested him to give me the courier docket number. He said he will email me the number. After a few hours later i got a call from CC and they said that my address area is not serviceable. I said him that i will give another address and mailed. So finally (and the only one) i got a reply from them:

"Dear Customer,
Greeting from Letsbuy.com!

We would like to inform you that the address provided by you in trail mail against your order #LSB-xxxxxx has been forwarded to the dispatch team and same will be considered at the time of delivery.
Thank you for writing to us and assuring you the best of our services.
Thanks & Regards,
xxxxx"

Today i again sent emails (3 of them) to know the status of my order. But no reply. Tried to call again but lost another 5-10 Rs.
Before posting this message, I checked my email and letsbuy account again just to be sure.

So 10+emails + telephone charge = frustration:sad:
At this rate i will lose the margin i got by applying the discount coupon:D

So dudes, purchase your items online only if they are not available locally. The extra paisa if any you would pay is better than the agony and frustration.

I got the phone delivered to another address on 4/6/11 after 12 days. Now my friend is happy with the new phone. So an advice for future buyers of letsbuy.com: please ensure that COD is available to your place (change the PIN code to check) otherwise be prepared to wait patiently.:D

Okay Guys,

Here is an update on LG Optimus 2X that I bought last week. I didn't like the phone as it has some software/hardware bug and has been restarting and shutting down randomly. I rooted and tried various custom ROMs from cyanogen, Modaco, UK and European stock ROMs. The problem still continued. Googal Unkal showed so many threads in various forums about many O2X owners have the same problem. I somehow managed to get a DOA certificate from LG service center here at Hyd. Letsbuy.com has arranged a pickup of the phone and will do a full refund of 24,990 INR. I might get the refund by this weekend. So, here I am back to square one hunting for an android phone. I am thinking to add 5000 more and get Samsung Galaxy S2. Univercell in Hyd is selling 'em at 30500 INR. What say guys? any better suggestions for me? Kaushik Sir, you want to help me save my soul this time?

Cheers!!
