Congrats for adding PS3 for your kid... Do check and post about upscaling factor for DVD's with ps3 slim, since the reviews were found to be not in favour of that( comparing to other BD players)

Did you select the Dvd upscale options within the settings menu?

Also did you try and connect it using an HDMI cable?

I'm pretty sure PS3 upscales DVD's pretty good.

I agree with teky, PS3 is considered a pretty good upscaler for DVD. There is a setting to change the default option of sending it as a passthru. I read the options to set somewhere, will try and search and give it. I dont own one, so hard to test.

just got altec lansing mx 5021 for my desktop. moved the m-audio revolution card to the desktop and got the asus essence st for the htpc.

next in line - better power supply for htpc, silent fans, cpu fan, change the wiring to the system from the mcb.

As for myself, i started a new thread in admiration of the "Passive Volume Control Unit" also known as "Passive-Pre" that i got from Mr. Viren Bakshi @ LYRITA AUDIO.

This unit has replaced my Quad 99Pre Amp in my personal music rack.

Yes I need HD-DVD player + second one is arriving this month end for backup( sister is giving her Player too) and have rightnow around 90+ movies and still growing. Dead become alive.

That is an interesting purchase, I am interested, seems to be pretty handy, can you share some more details, can I programm to run macros from it....like a button to open and close an application or a game. have you tried configuriong winamp with it.??
