Any reviews for the 50U20? I'm guessing that probably this one will become even cheaper as time goes by.

Well, this is probably the 100th time Iam writing this.

Panasonic robs indians blind with the 50" models.
This U20 model is in comparison CHEAPER than samsung C550 model internationally.
In india C550 sells for 65k and U20 sells for 90k!!!

See the US prices.

50U20 - ~$1000
Amazon.com: Panasonic TC-P50U2 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV: Electronics

C550 - ~ $1100
Amazon.com: Samsung PN50C550 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV (Black): Electronics

Panasonic 50" plasmas are not worth the money in india and panasonic did not learn any lesson from overpricing their 50"-ers.

No wonder, the shops still have the 50PY80 model which is 3 years old.

Baseline, look at panasonic only for 42". Their 50" models are going to stay with them at these prices. You can probably find the same 50U20 with the dealer by 2013.. :ohyeah:

Not that I disagree with you on this issue. For, Panasonic definately has been ripping off the Indian consumer for a long time and continues to do so. Not only do they over price their products here, but until now, have always sold outdated models in the Indian market. Actually, in the case of some models, such as their 65" PY850 model, they are still selling it here in INdia, three years after it was discontinued worldwide. But having said that, I would like to point out that, the model in India is the U20, whereas the one you are comparing it with in the US, is a U2. In fact, Panasonic intentionally has different model numbers for the US, with slight changes in comparison to similiar models elsewhere. This, they do to avoid a direct comparison of prices between the US and elsewhere. The fact is, that US prices are always lower than anywhere else, atleast when it comes to consumer electronic products.

What would be the best price I can get the 42C10 for in Hyderabad?.
Any help?.

I tried to some research on my own so I went out shopping. I visited Reliance Digital, Bajaj electronics, PCH EZone, Croma and TMC. I inquired the price for 42C10.

First went to TMC, they had 42C10 in stock and they quoted 46k for it. I told them the prices should be less now as they have newer models from Panasonic. The sales guy went to his senior, spoke to some one on the phone, came back to me and told that the prices have increased and the new price is 48 k. I was not sure if I have to laugh or cry, I just smiled and said Thank you and came.

Next wanted to go to Digital Shoppy, but they have closed shops in Hyderabad it seems.

Next went to Bajaj electronics, no body seemed to be interested in selling. Most of the customers were unattended and were there on their own. I came out.

Next went to Croma. They did not have any panasonic plasma but in-general found their prices to be high.

PCH ezone had the 42C10 but quoted 51 k for it. I asked him to find the latest prices, he came back with a quote of 46k.

Reliance Digital seems to have the best price among the lot and their quote is 39.5.

Anyone know of a better price in Hyderabad for the 42C10, if so, please let me know the shop details.

Thank you.

I finally ended up buying a Sony 32 inch FHD v550A display piece from Bajaj Electronics (Near Telephone bhavan) for 31k
(plus 50 movie pack + 1 year extended warranty). I went there to inquire panny 42C10, however on seeing the v550a
display piece inquired their price. The MOP before the new BX/EX/NX series came was around 42k. They said they could
give 3% discount on that which was more than the current EX series. Anyways after lot of bargaining, we settled down
at 31k.

Though display piece, since it was a LCD and not plasma, I was not worried about the usage much, besides being a
Sony it should be last long and the 1 year standard and the 1 year additional warranty should cover it pretty much.

Hope I have not made a mistake - which only time will tell. :(

Can u pls tel me where u got this price ...and idea how much without the HT for C450.

The best I am getting is 41.5 k for C450 without HT.

Thanks.

it was at Bajaj@punjagutta

The guys today mentioned that Samsung PS42C450 - Rs 45500 was for C430 and not C450.
for C450 he wouldnt budge below 41.5k too

Yeah...thought so...coz Kukatpally guy also froze down at 41.5k  for C450...lets see if he brings it down tomoro..will update u.

Points to notice - C450 and 430 a very identical....only missing items in 430 are : USB, side slots, DTS 2.0, digital audio...price is 2.5k lower @ 39k.

Went to eZone today and saw the Pana X20 42" on display.... compared it with LG series and Pana was much better IMHO. Unfortunately. no Sammy's there to compare with.

I have narrowed down to these 2 models Pana - X20 @ 41.9k - eZone price..guess I can get this @ a bit lower elsewhere and Sammy C450 - 41.5k @ Bajaj.

Has anyone done a comparison of these 2..would be of great help for me to decide...

Thanks

@infinity- I have done the comparison between the 2 and also the X10.
IMHO- X10 was better than X20 and sammy C450 is better than both thats why i decided on the Sammy as of now.
The SD is better in Sammy and HD is almost at par in both.
Also the sound is much better in Sammy.

Just of curiosity, what is it you mean by that? Are you somehow implying that a LCD has a longer life than a Plasma? For if you are, it is absolutely not true. Personally I would have gone in for the 42" plasma instead of a 32" LCD. That extra 10 inches adds a lot to the experience of watching TV.

Prices @ezone during promotion

Panasonic 42 Plasma c10 38500
You should be able to get a 42" C10 for approximately Rs 31,500/- A grand here or there is understandable, but anything more for a C10 now is a rip off price.

@harry10 : I felt the same about SD being better in Sammy C450 than the Pana X10/20 and HD also looked very crisp on the C450. When I checked the C450..I remember seeing a Digital audio - out...website does not indicate this..guess need to go and check again. With TS launching HD and that too with 5.1..this feature will be quite interesting...as you can connect to your AVR and enjoy 5.1 :yahoo:.

@Sanjay :
A friend just bought two Pansonic P42X10 TVs for 35k each from the Panasonic Brand Shop in Kamla Nagar, New Delhi. Looks like the clearance sale has started. The X20 series is actually lower than the X10 and is this years equivalent to the C10 from last year. Thus the 42X10 @ 35k is amuch, much better buy, than the 42X20 @ 44k.

If X20 is equivalent to the C10...does it makes sense to consider the C10 @ 31.5k ?? Coz, this is surely a great price for a 42" Plasma.

If X10 is better than X20 and @ 35k....how does it compare to the C450 @ 41.5k ???
