Protecting LCDs from display loss?

Whatever may be the reason, if a company cannot provide a panel that lasts and works for a few years (3-5?), excepting of course, force majeure, is best avoided. Does not make sense to me.

Cheers

Can you post name/location of ANY Sony plant that currently manufactures LCD panels (For TVs). It sold plants to Kyocera and Hon Hai.

If you go through the link I mentioned it clearly spells out Sony's need for panels from Samsung.

Its impact on end users:

Well do a google search there are plenty of news dating back to 05 or 06.
The joint venture with samsung is called S-LCD corporation.Under the same roof lcd for the Sony tvs are made and both companies use proprietary color filters and backlight/edge light in their respective lcds.
In 2009 its reported that samsung refused to share the white led led tech which is used in the edge led, which is why you never saw any edge LED models of Sony in 09 except for the wireless ZX1 and ZX5 lcd tvs which was way expensive as much as the Sony local dimming lcd tvs,i believe those tvs used white led modules from another company .

Sony latter made their own white LED modules in Sony chemical corporation.Since thus far they only made the more expensive RGB LED to achieve the same white light used in the worlds first Sony LED backlight lcd tv dating back to 2004 called Qualia 005 and bravia led backlight models and local dimming backlight models.

Similar joint venture between sharp and sony in their 10g facilty in Sakai.

As far as that link the panels are a SPVA tech of samsung, but the lcd panel won't have samsung written on it rather it will have sticker with S-lcd written on it .
The Sony panels from S-lcd will start with the code LTY where as the samsung panels start with LTF.

Again if a samsung tvs goes kaput its panel may be replaced with other lcd tech such as AMVA made by AUO corporation and SMVA made by SMVA corporation and in some high end models even with the Sharp panel.

So you no longer get the same performance as before, where as in the Sony you get the same panel hence you don't loose or gain any performance.

So the panel costs the same for either samsung or Sony.Again these panels are all taxed at 5% customs for both Sony/samsung or any other company.
