Right now I am listening to ...

Yes, I remember them. The first album was called 'Hunting High and Low' and catapulted them to stardom. Without ever playing a single live gig!

The follow-up 'Scoundrel Days' was successful too.

I love A-ha!

Right now I am listening to the soundtrack of the tamil film Vaaranam Aayiram .....lovely stuff....like early Rahman (from the Kaadhalan era).....instrumentation and arrangement are endearingly unsophisticated (the synths sound like synths!)....melodies are fantastic.

Also listening to Extreme's new album Saudades de Rock....if any of you are/were Extreme fans, then this is a real killer album.

Of course, the best music I have heard in a long long time is Maktub, the new album by Indian band Motherjane. Very rock, and very Indian. In my opinion perhaps one of the greatest albums of all time.

I would urge all of you to go to ::motherjane:: and download and listen to their stuff. If you're too lazy to do that you can check out their video here YouTube - motherjane - Fields of Sound . Its a "featured video" on the youtube India home page.

Hi Guys,
Have been listening to all the cds from a pop/new age group called A-HA.
Wonder if any of u guys are familiar with them. Keyboards, stupid lyrics and more but some songs are really 'musical'. Very 80sish.
Rgds

Ya unleash/persi same crazy group. 'Take on me' was the first of many hits. Scoundrel days is a good album. Not as 'Popish" as Hunting Hi & Lo. Newly released album analogue is rubbish with only Celize being a decent track

Even better is something like this, try it on Babelfish:

Translate a paragraph into German (say), then translate the translation back into English.

Repeat this loop several times. Compare what you get to the original text.

:)

Back to music: Roxette is another band which one should have outgrown a long time ago, but somehow hasn't! Absolute Kindergarten lyrics, but somehow it all seems to gel...

Well obviously i haven't outgrown bands like A-ha,Roxette,Duran Duran and the likes. In fact i enjoy roxette.
Yes Sanjay the band is from Norway and they have a small outlet in oslo where u get great deals on the entire A-ha set plus the regular T shirts, caps, mugs and stuff. In all their albums there are songs that are pure junk but there are also some tracks that appeal to my ears. And they are all superb recordings(Analogue being the exception) Not loud and aggressive like lots of pop cds.
Am currently listening to Headlines & Deadlines which are like a greatest hits of the band and has most of the popular tracks.

John Denver after a long time.

Currently listening to "The Wildlife Concert" by him.

The homely feel in his tracks keeps making us nostalgic everytime we have a listen.

growing up on cinnamon street

Roxette-Vulnerable:p

Everywhere I look I see her smile
Her absent minded eyes
and she has kept me wondering for so long
how this thing could go wrong
it seems to me that we are both the same
playing the same game
but as darkness falls this true love falls apart
into a riddle of her heart
she's so vulnerable like china in my hands
she's so vulnerable and I don't understand
I could never hurt the one I love
she's all I've got
but she's so vulnerable
oh so vulnerable
days like these no one should be alone
no heart should hide away
her touch is gently conquering my mind
there's nothing words can say
she's coloured all the secrets of my soul
I've whispered all my dreams
but just as night-time falls this vision falls apart
into a riddle of her heart yea
she's so vulnerable like china in my hands
she's so vulnerable and I don't understand
I could never hurt someone I love
she's all i've got
but she's so vulnerable
oh so vulnerable
don't hide your eyes...

Sorry guys coudn't control myself...

cheers,
