Right now I am listening to ...

A very thorough collection, and a good place to start with her music.

Marvin Gaye - What's Going On

An album that belongs in every collection, its sublime, soul music on the surface, but underneath and lyrically a social commentary. Even if you are not into that stuff, its excellent music that has stood the test of time and one of the greatest albums of all time.

Marvin Gaye - The Master

Probably the best anthology selection of Marvin Gaye, has all of his biggest hits and then some. Probably not as comprehensive an anthology as Citizen Steely Dan, but still the best collection of his hits.

Not a huge fan, but good riffs and a good collection nonetheless.

Will definitely serve most folks, a good reference point for his music and/or a good starting point/introduction to his music.

@ Musicbee..are you listening to the MP3 collection or CD version of the same? It's available for a ridiculously low price of 190 on Landmark (which is why i feel it's the MP3 version )..If it's the audio CD, how much did you buy it for? The most annoying thing about the "Essentials" series is the extreme variability in price (and availability) across artists.

Audio CD, but picked up in the US.

Yes, I agree they are not available for the most part or priced prohibitively in India. I pick up my CDs and Blu-Rays from the US though.

Regarding price, it varies, but I'm an Amazon Prime member and they have frequent deals where I grab CDs for $4.99 (or a little more) each plus free shipping... but they are Prime members only discount and the Prime membership costs $97 each year.

PS - Not sure about this CD, but if it states Audio CD in Landmark then it should be an audio CD. Perhaps they are selling as a clearance sale or old stock. I've bought quite a lot from Landmark and never perceived any loss in quality, so if its really an audio CD for Rs. 190 then do grab it.

A good selection, has all of his top/notable hits and good for when you only want the hits and not the albums.

That's the magic of MJ. Once I saw your post, I was tempted to listen to one of my fav track..leave me alone. Been listening to LP rip all this time and I suddenly remembered that I haven't listened to the CD I had more than once.

Listening to bad special edition CD right now with 18 tracks (including voice over intro). Awesome quality for a cd (epic..remastered by bernie grundman in his LA studio).

Mad me dig up my CD of Bad 25. Yes, it certainly sounds very good, ditto for the Thriller album.

More good stuff from these guys, slow tempo music, extremely easy listening, but still some excellent music.

PS - Do check them out... have most of their albums and highly recommend them.

Second that! Especially, love the track "All that we perceive" which was used as one of the EA Sports's Cricket game soundtracks :)
