Right now I am listening to ...

MK_Shangri-La.jpg

A fine solo effort by MK, but not up there with his best! The songs are stories about people, places, and events. They are smooth and gentle, almost 'folksy' & 'ballady' with some subtle & effortless guitar work. Highlights include Boom Like That - about Ray Kroc who founded McDonalds chain, The Lying Dutchman & Song for Sonny Liston - about the famous boxer.

Me thinks he has gone on for too long with this simple & stripped down approach to his music. It is time for him to unleash the ultimate guitar album :ohyeah:!

My tastes on the other hand are so obscure that no one ever seems to bother... Except you - once.

Hey akstorm! Sorry for ignoring your posts man ??. Not intentional, I assure you. Just paucity of time and ignorance of your music tastes! I am not that deep into metal, just restrict myself to "popular" bands/albums. Happy to be enlightened about new/obscure genres of music. I would love to have a dialog with all who post on this thread as and when! There is so much to discover that it boggles my mind. The more obscure the better. Add to that the fact I myself have accumulated so much music that it stresses me out ?? !

To all music lovers: Bring it on, lay it out for us. Let us know what you liked about the music. Recommend stuff. Your top 5 albums, your must hear albums....

In theory not so great... I mean what's so great about repetitive techno babble even if it's set to excellent rhythm and beats?

But Erasure is different... among the earliest proponents of the new wave, synthpop genre, their music is so foot-tappingly enjoyable even today.

Get a taste of some excellent synthpop with this greatest hits collection.

Now to dig up the PSB CDs... some of the best synthpop ever and so many fond memories from all of their wonderful hits over the years.

[emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] I was kidding raghu. My tastes are really obscure and I am well aware of it. Metal is not for everyone and on top metal itself is so wide a genre now that even i don't know yet what I like and what I don't.

Ilayaraja: Ilayaraajas Music Journey- Live in Italy
Ilaiyaraaja's Music Journey was recorded live at the "14th annual Angelica, Festival Internatzionale di Musica & l'Altro Suono" in Modena, Italy, in 2004. It's a live orchestra' performance. In track(6) it is a treat to hear Illayaraja's live interaction with the audience in English, explaining each version he plays, while an interpreter translates same in to Italian language.
Track 6 starts with a Lullaby and grows well with each stage in life musically.

So was I

Never heard that album of RP. I will get onto it, time permitting. That bit about knowing what we like and don't is very true. Going through our respective collections would need prolonged lifetimes. We need Sauron's ring pronto!

Streaming music has made life so much easier for me. The moment I see something here, I immediately listen to it. If i like it enough i start searching for hi def downloads, if i can't, looking for a cd is next step and if that's also inaccessible sadly mp3 have to do. (I prefer google play store for streaming and mp3 purchases, i find their quality best out of the easily accessible media).

Sadly listening to music at work is frowned upon so can only do that when the boss isn't around. If not have to wait till I get home.

I hear ya! I haven't explored streaming yet. You can say I am stuck in the nearly obsolete world of "physical media"! Been pondering a lot on my future listening style - ditch the cd player and move to laptop/DAC or continue with CDs and integrate streaming? A veritable ocean of options to consider. On that note...

That album though... [emoji7]

I simply do not have the physical space for cds. And I have my concerns about the longevity of physical media in indian environment. So I try buying digital as much as possible.

For once ill leave a single from an album here.

Juat listen to Iron Butterfly - In a gadda da vida - In a gadda da vida - 17 mins of pure bliss.
