Been a while since I heard Satchmo. Decided to spin this up and what a delight this album is while following a predictable template: from chugging rock guitar openers & funky wah-wah drenched songs, to slow mid-tempo 'cruiser' guitar ballads & back to rock guitar playing to close out the album. Thankfully, he doesn't sing on this one :)! Recommended listening.

Peace out.

TCHeN, did you like this album? I had high hopes for it and found it to be more of a tribute album (50/60/70 dance era) rather than out and out 'dance-able' electronica. Perhaps my expectations are to blame here. I do like the way the album sounds overall. And it seems to have been made lovingly, going by the commentary on it. Cheers.

Yes, RAM is not the usual dance electronica. My favourite album of 2014:)

For whom it matters, the vinyl of this album doesn't sound better (to my ears in my setup) than the CD.

Yo jls001! Glad that you rocked RAM. Thing is I heard it on my iphone so far. Didn't get a chance to spin it up on the stereo. With volume at 11'o clock it would be a good solid listen. Perhaps the magic will reveal itself then.

Meanwhile this is happening, for all you night owls out there..

Free from the hard rock frenzie of Deep Purple, Richie Blackmore's playing here is fluid, masterful, creative and melodic. Mrs.Blackmore aka Candice Night is beauuuuutiful. Get a pan pipe, a bag pipe, whatever and get to their live shows.

Excellent medieval minstrel music. Excellently recorded.

I like it, one of my faves actually.

PS: I'm really not into house or EDM... just a bit of Thievery Corporation every now and then.

Blackmore's Night is one of my favorites... pretty much unique in the renaissance/Celtic rock flavors that they create.

But then Ritchie Blackmore anywhere is awesome... have most of Rainbow, Blackmore's Night, and Deep Purple.

All said and done... they simply don't make music like this anymore.
