Right now I am listening to ...

Years gone by... still a wonderful album. Talk Talk is an amazing band, lots of unique sounds that evolved over time as the band grew... and this in particular is an amazing album... something you return to time and again... something like Fleetwood Mac's Rumors, or The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds, or Marvin Gaye's What's Going On... all must own albums.

A bluesy, hypnotic, atmospheric and utterly involving piece of music from Tuareg rockers Tamikrest - one of my fav bands! Kidal is a war torn region in Northern Mali & home to Tamikrest whose music is an arresting blend of blues & distorted guitar driven rock married to African rhythms. In their quest to go global and awaken the world to the plight of their homeland, they manage to retain the emotion & essence of their music & not "sell out", admittedly a herculean task! All their albums are worthy in their own right. But if you have to listen to one album where it all comes together, then it is Chatma. And now Kidal.

Tamikrest is not alone in the vast (and musical) desert of Mali. Their friends Tinariwen & that insane guitarist Bombino also are torch bearers of their musical revolution. Enjoy.

Ah, Alvin Lee and 10 years after... We must get together someday and play this stuff TCHeN.

For sure my friend - for good measure let's throw in Roy Buchanan, Michael Schenker, Robin Trower, Joe Bonamassa, Rory Gallagher, Duane Allman, SRV, and Peter Green.

Oh why you do this, played it on repeat last night.

Thanks for sharing... been reading up on them and watching/listening on YT.

Due to paucity of time couldn't search on the likes of Spotify, but did so over the weekend. 5 albums available and started listening - post midnight with whisky - thanks buddy. Ali Farka Tour has been the only intro to this world of music so far.

Unbelievable...Just the stuff I was spinning these past few days! Roy Buchanan is the guitarist's guitarist. I firmly believe The Messiah Will Come Again :)!

Eclectic tastes my friend, after my own musical head & heart!
