An absolute must, love them. You will like them if you like the sound of Steely Dan, Jefferson Airplane, etc.

i thought lynrd skynrd sounded more close to The Allman Brothers Band..anyway they were pioneers of the Southern Rock sound ...my particular favorite is the anthem..Sweet Home Alabama where apart from the twin guitar work one can also hear Ronnie Van Zant taking issues with Neil Diamond for his Southern Man..

Yup, forgot about The Allman Brothers, another great band from the South. Now I have to hunt for their CDs, must be lying somewhere... Thanks for reminding about them!

Hi Moserw,
If u like the cars then u should try Ric Ocasek's solo albums too. I have a few cars cds + 'This side of paradise" by Ric ocasek and i like them too.

Dont care much for Chicago but the album 'Solitude/solitaire' by the lead singer Peter cetera i like.

Boston i love. Some great tracks that come to mind are Tell me, higher power, amanda, cool the engines........

Heard Stereotomy -APP this morning and like most APP this too is a good recording and some lovely music.

Thanks for heads up on APP. Have not heard this album yet, will get it.

Hi
APP albums i like.
Ammonia Avenue
Vulture Culture
Stereotomy
Gaudi
Eye in the sky
Pyramid

And a compilation "Hits in the Sky"

All good recordings.

I have heard some of their albums borrowed from friends. The only one I have in my collection is Tales of Mystery and Imagination.

To continue a couple more bands I love (named after places) are Boston and Chicago.

one such band that i can think of is Kansas....very famous for their Dust in the Wind and Carry on my wayward son...

wonder if there are any forum members who dig the 'avant garage' sound of David Thomas and Per Ubu...Ravenstine was perhaps one of the few people who could play the keyboards like it was another instrument instead of trying to make it sound like the piano or the organ....

Vulture Culture is my first encounter with APP. I have listened to the album back to back, like 20-25 times in a duration of a month or so (on the way to office and back to home - my mobile came in handy!).

A classic and this guy can play the guitar. J. J. Cale's Best Of/Greatest Hits/Anthology (at least one of them) is a must at least to get an intro into his work.

PS - I like Clapton's version of Cocaine though!

What can one say about Kraftwerk? Absolute gems like The Robots, The Model, The Man-Machine (probably every single track on this album). One of my favorites during my growing up years along with The Police, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard... the list can go on!

i have the original german version too. and, there is a 'computer world'.

excellent recording. one of the few CDs that does not make speakers clip (assuming i'm am using the correct usage of the word) at very high volumes.

i would like to add cerrone 'luv in 'c' minor' to this list. there are a couple more, but this is their best (acc. to me).

hey moser, very similar tastes on western!!! but then, someone who likes music is open to all genres, i guess.

anyone heard anand shankar 'east meets west'?

Oh yeah, agree with you totally. Anyone who is really into music will discover new artists/genres over time and be very open. There were days when I would spend a good 3 hours or so in a CD shop just browsing through at my leisure and poking around. The best way I found to intro new artists/music was to get the Greatest Hits/Best Of albums and if I liked what I heard then would delve into more of their work or else leave it at that.

Great album...

it is. they compliment each other so well. they're voices are strong yet not loud. very laid back but still no doubting its some of the best voices you will hear.

more than mark knopflers guitaring, its the compositions that really make a difference. anyone can play his notes, but only he can write it
