Right now I am listening to ...

Whoever thinks metal is not musical should give a listen to these guys. Symphony X is a prog-metal band along the lines of Dreamtheater...

Yup, I couldn't find it locally either. The last few times I tried buying MP3 albums off Amazon I was not able to as I did not have a US CC. I'm guessing you're using a US CC...[/URL]

Yes, I am. Got mp3s, and SQ is pretty decent but no great shakes. Guess will order the ACDs if I like her very much.

Thanks, will take a look at them.

Sad to say could finally source mp3 rips of them from a friend. Have been looking for Ilayaraja's ACDs. Any pointers would be appreciated. Online payment via CC and delivery to Hyderabad a must.

BTW Agni Natchathiram is a great OST and a must have in any collection period...

Have always thought Metallica were musical. But I've never gone beyond Metallica, Anthrax, and Rage Against The Machine. My choice is old school of of rock like Deep Purple, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Moody Blues, etc.

Will give them a listen. Thanks for sharing!

SQ is ok since they are mp3 d/l. Amazing vocals, soft melodious backing music. Very much in the mold of Tori Amos since she uses the piano to good effect very much like the former. Certainly worth a look/listen...

The energy on this album will blow you away. Extremely violent, explicit lyrics, everything that's gangster rap can be found here. Definitely not M. C. Hammer and not for the squeamish, but lots of energy here.

Toto IV
Not my regular cup of tea, but decided to give the bright red LP some exercise after a long time. Not bad at all. Was less fatiguing and less harsh than most of the popular music today. Not sure if it is the electronic instruments or digital recording/playback that makes the modern popular music so harsh.

Thanks,
Sharad

Hey Sharad,
Toto IV is a lovely old album of the group. Dont know the recording on the LP but most toto cds are thin sounding and bordering on harsh as u mentioned. Recently i got a remastered toto double cd which has all the songs i was looking for and a definately better recording. Not in your face but smoother and deeper. The older toto albums (isolation etc) are even worse recordings.

The album is great, great vocals, melodious, and it has two tracks Grandmother and Spanish Harlem both of which I came across in Audiophile CDs hence my introduction to this artist and so ended up purchasing this one. Unfortunately I have not heard the one you've mentioned to cannot compare between the two.

'The Raven' is considered the best of the lot, though it is her debut album. The title track and 'Spanish Harlem' are great.

'The New York Girls' Club' is considered better than the other albums (excepting The Raven).

If you are getting a Checky 'The Raven' SACD, grab it.

The first album that started it all. A pretty good pop album, has a number of hit tracks like I Should Be So Lucky, The Loco-Motion, etc. I still remember my sister and cousins were so crazy about I Should Be So Lucky that they would play the video so many times during the day and practically wore out the VHS tape. A great album to have in your collection especially if you are a Kylie Minogue fan.

This was the album that got me back to listening to Kylie Minogue. The track Can't Get You Out Of My Head alone is worth the price of the CD. The only other track in recent times that kept ringing as much in my head was Madonna's Hung Up.

I am not really a fan of live music preferring the sterile undisturbed studio recordings, but I picked up this album after reading great reviews of it on Amazon and the fact that it was recorded in 1975. A must have if you are a Bob Marley fan and there are millions of them...

Ever since I purchased a tape of In Square Circle by Stevie Wonder as a kid, I have been a fan. This is as complete a collection of Stevie Wonder as you could possibly get close to, though probably not comprehensive enough by everybody's standards. Still a must have collection and yes this is a collection of 4 CDs covering most of (if not all of) Stevie Wonder.

Hi,

Moserw,Thanks for the inputs !

Ashok hope this for me !! Thanks but one thing though,as you say NYGC is better then other works by her, then its tilted more towards the pop genre then the Jazz (which is what I prefer) so I don't know whether to buy it or not (coz even if this turns out to be the same then :p !) !

I have already mentioned that the song Spanish Harlem is very much to my liking but its the other songs that Am worried ! coz the Cd costs a lot (especially the SACD costs around 50$ )

Anyways will try to find a Flac torrent and try it out and see whether it suits my taste or not !

Thanks for the reply though:) !

Regards.

Its hard to compile 'best of' for artists like Stevie, Marvin Gaye, Marley, Little Richard, Elton John, B B king. James Brown, Ray Charles...

Moser, there is shop here in Chennai that has almost all Tamil movie CDs. I am sure he will be happy to take your orders and ship them to Secunderabad. The only issue will be that old movies are clubbed as 2 or 3 into a single. New movies are available as a single CD.

I will send you his address and contact details. If you want I can also speak to him.

Cheers

Totally agree with you. Still not everyone wants every album and for such a Best Of/Greatest Hits compilation is a good starting point.

BTW I love all the artists you have mentioned especially B. B. King, James Brown, Ray Charles, Bob Marley, & Marvin Gaye. Earlier recordings of Elton John are great, though not very much the work he has been churning out the past decade or so.
