Samsung 64F8500 Plasma Discussion Thread

Hows the sound quality of the 8500?
Today i was at modern world (BLR) am looking at upgrading my pansonic PV8 42''to a bigger either 60 or 70''

Still no luck with the 8500, got a demo of the sharp quotron 70'' led tv but not happy with fast action scenes (motion blur was evident) & sond quality was bad.

Was told 8500 may be available on order at modern world.

should i go for the sharp or the 8500?

Sound quality is average. It will be okay as any other flat screen. There are settings that can be adjusted in Sound menu but don't get hopes high for quality sound. Sound is definitely better than Panasonic 50GT50 I had and equal to LG 50PK550.

Thanks Shaiju ....The reason i asked about SQ of the 8500 was because the sharp 70'' led had very bad sound after all kinds of Audio setting adjustments....in fact my pana PV8 sounds lot better.

Contacted Bajaj electronics sales person last weekend and he says the demand for the model increased since I purchased and delivery period varies from 1 to 2 weeks+ but they still very well have it in display and are selling the model direct from samsung.

I have given home demo for few persons in my newly moved apartment complex which seem to have pulled the sales in favor f8500 as opposed to the sony 4k TV which my next door neighbor has.

Somehow the filter in the TV does not seem to like the TV being placed on the floor and gives dim PQ compared to the 4k sony he has placed alongside. I have asked him to place the TV in viewing height for which he thinks the TV generates enough interest as is and they are not able to deliver without waiting period. (I too was not impressed by the TV in that position when I demoed and you can find my report in previous pages in the thread).

So, if anyone wants the sales person number and can wait for 1-2 weeks for delivery can PM me for the number and my referral. Same 1.68L + delivery holds.

Sound qualilty on thin panels are never produced as expected although the sound on my DT60 is pretty good. But when you're spending 1.68L-1.8L on a TV, you should always get a soundbar for peace of mind :)

Hello thread owner and everybody..

Planning to buy Samsung 43H4100 43 Inches Plasma Television. Its a demo set and i donnt think there is any other set available.

Can any of you tell me how to check number of hours used on this set? Its a 2014 model.

along with this, can you also tell me how to check number of hours used for Haier 40 inch LED Full HD set?

Thanks

Why don't you make a thread for that model ? This thread is dedicated to the awesome F8500 (some Sony fan wouldn't agree :p) only.....

from which shop is this?

Gudu, you'll get better response if you post on Price thread. Keep this thread only for 64F8500 discussion.

Pick up the F8500, I have seen it here and was awestruck by its quality. The sharp I have not seen so cannot vouch.

Generally speaking it is difficult to go to anything else once you have enjoyed a plasma.

We have to wait for the next TV technology (Maybe 4K OLED?) to beat plasmas in price and quality.

A few questions on the F8500

1: .Does using the screen fit option in the F8500 eliminate the black bars when watching 16:9 format.& still retain the same 16;9 format without any distortion (i have this feature in the Pana PV8 but it is more like a zoom feature ,where the pics looks distorted and the edges /corners are cut)

2: I have sold my BD players a long time ago & use only media player (extreamer) & all my Video contents are HD D/L (mix of 1080 & 720) . How would be the PQ of 720P D/L's?

3. I am sure the big sized 1080p rips (without compression) would be good , but what about smaller compressed D/L 1080p rips ,xvid, divx etc etc

4 Will the tv play all formats through USB ,without the need for the Media player? ( the sharp failed to read some formats if it did, audio was not there or video was not there)

5. How would be the performance with the PS3 (this tv would be used more for gaming and casual movie viewing for the main movie watching i will be using my HT set up .....TV programs i hardly watch)

thanks

The Screen Fit option fits the broadcast input signal that it is given ie: 720p & 1080i, if you are refering to say different widescreen options such as 2.40:1 then yes their are black bars but if it's 1.78:1 or 16:9 then their are none.

2: I have sold my BD players a long time ago & use only media player (extreamer) & all my Video contents are HD D/L (mix of 1080 & 720) . How would be the PQ of 720P D/L's?

Since their are many extra options to use for cleaning up compressed content that is streamed to the tv the Picture Quality can be fine tuned for perfection. Such options are: DIGITAL CLEAN VIEW - which will Reduce picture noise to avoid distracting lines and flickering. MPEG NOISE FILTER - which Imporves video quality by reducing MPEG noise in the picture.

3. I am sure the big sized 1080p rips (without compression) would be good , but what about smaller compressed D/L 1080p rips ,xvid, divx etc etc

Same answer as number 2 question. Excellent

4 Will the tv play all formats through USB ,without the need for the Media player? ( the sharp failed to read some formats if it did, audio was not there or video was not there)

The F8500 includes some 3-USB Ports which can handle these screen resolutions: 640x480, 720x400, 800x600, 832x624, 1024x768, 1152x864, 1152x870, 1280x720, 1280x800, 1280x1024, 1366x768, 1440x900
1600x900RB, 1680x1050, 1920x1080 (@60, 67, 72, 75HZ)
Not to mention with the Evolution Kit you can also upgrade to the newest HEVC or H.265 Which would allow a much high Frames Per Second rate for 1080p & 4k alike. This is one of the very few tv's with forward tech capability as you can not only update the software with FW updates but you can upgrade the Hardware as well along with future plug-ins.

5. How would be the performance with the PS3 (this tv would be used more for gaming and casual movie viewing for the main movie watching i will be using my HT set up .....TV programs i hardly watch)

For my PS3 & XBOX ONE on FPS GAMES such as COD it works without any noticable Lag. But you will need to set this tv to PC Mode if you want to cut your LAG to 37.5 Source: Samsung F8500 Review (PN51F8500, PN60F8500, PN64F8500)
As tv's today use so much processing power for the different video options it slows down gamers, by using PC Mode this switches most unused options off. The Samsung F8500 uses a Quad-Core Processor while other top HDTV's use a Dual-Core which is why the F8500 is Most Powerful Processor used by any Flagship HDTV under $5k currently.

Hi everyone i've been away a while since theirs been nothing new to Report but now that has all changed.

A few days ago on a whim I decided to check for a Firmware Update on my F8500 and to my surprise their was a new Version (FW-1200) available for download!

After downloading it I quickly shot over to:
http://www.samsung.c.../PN64F8500AFXZA
Looking for any information on the newest Firmware, but their was none as they still had the old FW-1119.1 Version on their website. So I did a LIVE CHAT and their idiot operators could only tell me what I had already read on their website and they had never even heard of Ver. 1200 even thou it was already being run on my Samsung F8500 currently.

So I come to our community for discussion to see if you have downloaded the Latest FW 1200 which was apparently available May 1st 2014 according to rumors of its release date on other website forums. But no one else has tried to solve this issue early on so I thought that we might blaze the trail ahead of the pack.

Can anyone report back that is using the Latest FW to share any changes or improvements that they might have uncovered so far?
