Samsung Plasma 51F5500 Owners Thread /Reviews/Discussions!!

Reliance digital guy says they give invoice of real amount. Would request anyone (sudhirban, mastiguy, rajendra_mba2002) who made recent purchase to provide invoice copy/written quotation. He says he can give only 4% discount otherwise but will match any invoice/quotation from organized retail store.

My invoice is for 71k..i can send it if you want.. But if you're getting the 67.5 quotation itself I think it will do.. Take the quote to reliance guys.. Then bargain.. All the best..

For all forum members.. Let us bargain our brains out with big companies.. Not with street vendors.. Cheers

I think 67.5 with Blu ray player is an excellent deal. Don't wait too much. Last year Samy also ran out of the E8000 Plasma model after they gave a tab free at a price of 81-83K. After that the price was jacked up to almost a lac and no freebie. So just grab it, effectively you are paying only 61K or so (after adjusting value of BDP).

I agree while heartedly.

Check da pm dude. mailed the invoice copy.........btw request you to grab the deal which you got at earliest, as i heard from samsung personal that the prices gonna increase by 6-8%

Thanks everyone and especially mastiguy and sudhirban for providing receipt copies. I booked it day before yesterday and got it delivered yesterday for 70K with DVD player. He didn't give me receipt for now and mentioned they can get into trouble with samsung and will courier receipt in a week's time.

They had set contrast to 95% and said no need to worry about burnin. But I am not taking any chances and following instructions on this forum.

@mastiguy guy here offered 25% discount on warranty, though i didn't get it now. After discussions on this thread on reliance vs samsung warranty i thought will spend some more time on deciding which one should I get. It looked like standard discount scheme as he had a printout with 25% discounted warranty rates against each product.

BTW, if anyone especially @rajendramba_2002 can provide quote/receipt of less than 70K all of us can benefit from it as reliance has 15 day price match guarantee.
In fact moderators, it may make sense to have one dedicated section for price match.

Guess the prices are based on City, in Bangalore the same model is costing 68k with BDP offer, thats the best deal i got from Girijas.

Hi,

Is 51f5500 now available in shops for demo.
In Mumbai/thane is it available in croma/vijay sales/reliance store?

Devi International price 67.5 +2 K = TV + Blu ray player.. when i just asked e best price.

If i do billing, i can still get some disc.

i feel the reflection is too much on this model.. 51F5500

Particularly in the TV showroom environment, i was seeing like Picture in picture :( Pictures shown on the other side is very much visible like as if its from this tv itself.

Pls suggest, how is the reflection in home environment? is it ok, for normal TV watching with hall tube lights ON??

or really wants us to switch OFF all the lights.

Since ST60 is not gonna avaible anytime soon, checking for alternative.

Now considering 51F5500.

Reflection is there because it does not have the AR filter just like the S60. The filter reduces the reflection to a great extent. i feel than on negotiation one can get the 51f5500 for around 67k or even lower with the blu ray player.
Just need to negotiate harder and visit couple of places.

If anyone can get a written quote/invoice for less than 67K please post to thread/pm me. Atleast reliance has 15 day price match guarantee for matching price of organised sector retail anywhere in India.

one of them is the presence of a good-quality filter on the ST60, which seems to be absent from the Samsung counterpart. PQ could be another parameter. a few ST60-owners could be able to explain better further.

ST60 is a superior model with AR filter and better PQ.
But 50K price difference looks to be too much especially in India.
( It is the price of a 42 inch LED /Plasma?)

Panasonic pricing was on higher side for S60 too.
In US 51F5500 was expensive than S60
S60 is non-smart, non-3D and the pricing was similar to F5500 which is smart, 3D.

51F5500 Black level is also good.
The measured black levels ( As per CNET review )
50ST60 : Black luminance (0%) 0.00373 Good
51f5500: Black luminance (0%) 0.004 Good

It is up to the budget and requirement. Have a demo of 51F5500 before making the final decision.

I don't think 50 K premium for ST60 is justified. Yes max 10-15K is may be justified, as it is claimed to be a better TV in terms of panel and even PQ (all assumed, as it is still not available mostly anywhere in India). In any case, there is no point waiting for something which is not available, else you might miss even F5500 as well. Last year I missed the E8000 model which was sold out during Diwali. Reflection is there. So try to have any direct light very close or opposite to the TV. All plasmas are better in a dark or dimly lit environment. I have an LCD but entire family prefers to watch the great PQ of F5500 in a dimly lit environment as it gives a theater type ambience.
