Samsung plasma "shocker of a price"!!!!

well, the buzz is like almost non-existent as of now..you can hear it only at real close distance..and it's not an audio related issue i guess since it doesn't increase with volume..it's not at all bugging as of now..hope it wont increase though..

What about image retention? ;)

Actually they have about 11 sets left and mine has been delayed ( along with 3 others).

I should have received mine by Tuesday morning but there was no update on their tracking at all. All enquiries to Deccan360 (the courier) were given the same answer - "we shall call you back within half hour - it should be there today".

I called Vaibhav , who verified that Deccan had not shipped it, in spite of having it in their warehouse since Saturday.

As an aside - it is very disappointing that people never give a clear cut answer. I would not have waited for 3 hours if they had mentioned it - I would be mad but at least I would not be mad along with 3 hours of expectant waiting..

Vardu, did you recieve your tv? Waiting for your comments.

I have been assured by Vaibhav (the dealer) that I should have it at home no later than tomorrow.

The update (finally) on Deccan360's site suggests that they have actually deigned to move the item from their warehouse.

Will post feedback as soon as possible.

Guys I finally watched 1080p content on this set and it is STUNNING! The blacks got blacker, the shadow detail miraculously appeared, and the gap between this and the panny V20 narrowed considerably. Mind you this is still in the breakin period, so this isn't even its full potential settings-wise.

Attaching a picture - try figuring out where the panel ends and the bezel starts! If the upload doesn't work you will just have to take my word for it. :-)

The TV has been delivered to my place now :yahoo:, will go home in some time and will check it. The samsung installation guy had called to say that he would be coming in tommorow.

Vardu: Did you get yours?

In the Deccan360 tracking info - I saw that it had a halt at Bangalore at 2:40 pm and now I know why :) - Do post your feedback.

I don't think I will be getting it today since it took 36 hours from Hyd to Blr which translates to tomorrow afternoon for Chennai

Got my TV delivered today :yahoo: .

Shopping experience was cool. Made my payment on 30th. Mr. Vaibhav dispatched the TV on the same evening. Arrived today as expected in 3 days time. I guess another TV shipped today along with mine with Bangalore as destination. In fact the bill sent inside the unit was for one Amith Thomas. Perhaps its you Mark ?

Folks at home happy seeing the huge box. Samsung guy expected to come tomr and install. :licklips: .

Will post my experiences with TV soon. I have a lot of work ahead of me. Curtain Linings and even making modifications on furniture too  . Here i would need small advise on what precautions to take with the TV. Should i buy a stabilizer for 50C6500 ? Heard V-Guard is good. If so which model exactly. Would buy it tomr in time for installation.

I would like to once again thanks HiFiVision in general and "Madbullram" is particular for the deal. Glad to be a member.

No Vivekecm, not my bill. :) Same kind of reactions from my family as well after seeing the huge package :ohyeah: Even i am in a dilemma about the stabilizer, initial settings, break in DVD...... Will update you all about the performance of the TV once the installation is done today.

Its my turn to thank Hifivision and MadBullRam for such a wonderful buying experience.

great. Is an UPS a better option for that TV?
How thick is the TV? Can it be wall mounted such that projector screen be pulled over it, without a large gap between wall and screen? If there is a gap, then the screen flutters with fan's air.

TV is about 1.6 inches and the Samsung slim mount is about .7 inches - normal mounts could be as wide as 1.5 inches.

+1

I had a pleasant experience dealing with Vaibhav. The TV was delivered the day before, and installed by Samsung guys yesterday.

Great thanks.

I am extremely happy that you guys are enjoying the deal and are also happy with JD. He just sent me an SMS saying till now 10 have been bought by our forum members.

@mbr - thanks for taking the extra step and posting the initial details, that sure gave me the impetus to overcome my inertia

It was a pleasant surprise to find out that Vaibhav was known to one of my family for more than 10 years and that helped me make the decision to go ahead in spite of not being able to test it out anywhere in the city.

While I am a bit annoyed and frustrated that my set in particular has been delayed by more than a week , I am satisfied with Vaibhav's efforts to keep me posted asap regarding any and all changes in the schedule.

dont you guys think, this sharp reduction in price and desperation to push out the stock before 2010 end???

I think we will have most of the new plasma and LED/LCD 2011 models having 3D by default and price reduction.

i feel 3D will not be a premium feature from 2011

Raj: In electronics as you wait you get better for lesser. The point is, is one willing to wait or wanting to enjoy whats best now. I bought my PV8 2 yrs back and still very very happy with it. Will change only when 3D has matured. So its quite a personal decision based on individual needs.

First 3d market needs to mature, then you need to get access to 3D content, add to the trouble of 3D glasses and technology for glasses free 3D isnt far. We dont even have bluray disk and BDP very common yet, so its a big wait game.

The reason for this sharp reduction could be as follows

The C6500 is an end/beginning product.

It is the last non-3d model in the 1080p series.
It is the first ultra-slim (1.6") model.

According to professional reviews/calibrators , it has slightly better PQ, Contrast ,some other minor bells and whistles.

For all this the price difference was more than 15K than the C550. I basically saw this deal as being able to get a slightly better version of the C550 for the same price.

The newly introduced C680 is a 3D engine in the C550 body. It was introduced because they wanted to move towards making all TVs 3D (or 3D compatible) and they had a lot of existing factories churning out the old size and decided to take advantage of it and put out an in-between series. Surprisingly it costs a lot more than the C6500 - so a huge price cut might not be seen till the end of 2011.
