Samsung UA40D5000 LED TV

After much evaluation I have finally brought UA40D5500 Smart TV yesterday :licklips:. The ultra slim factor of this TV is appealing. Wall mounting is pending. Any idea on what will be the gap between the wall and the TV on wall mounting?
Still to go through the settings for tweaking for optimizing the picture quality. Any suggestions for how to calibrate the set would be welcome.

So which panel did you get ?

I think people are making too much unnecessary noise about panel type without checking out actual picture quality of the tv; the picture of this samsung led tv is outstanding to say the least (whatever panel it may have)...

I have CN04 panel on my C5000. I was not too happy with viewing angles.
Due to some minor issues, I got the samsung guys replace my panel to another unit of the same version, and I dont see issues with viewing angles & noticeable improvement in PQ.
I guess there is something beyond version number, may be the place of manufacture. The serial no of the TV can also sometimes has different versions.
I also noted that my old panel was 60Hz and the current one is 50Hz.

I bought a 40" UAD5000 LED TV from singapore.
Panel: AA01
Looks like everywhere its the same panel now-a-days.

TV looks really splendid, especially photos & HD videos.
At the moment as I have normal cable with Hathway settop box. SO normal TV programs are crappy. I need to get a HD DTH service soon.

My other Samsung LCD bought in India .. LA22B450 is "BY01" panel. Not sure what panel it is.

Typically for samsung TVs, I read from various sources that fine tuned "Movie" & "Natural" are good for standard viewing content and "Dynamic" with slightly reduced "contrast" for HD content. These settings also vary from one DTH operator to another. Ex: Dish is more natural, TataSky is more on vivid side.
I also recommend trying out "Game" mode for HD content.

i might be just out of topic here... but the last time i went to samsung plaza, i found the d5000led tv too much reflective much like a plasma...dont u guys notice this thing?..infact the reflection was present in every lcd-led tvs with the ultra clear panels...do u find it distracting while watching tv?

The difference is that it doesn't wash out like a plasma screen.Further more lcds/led-lcd have the huge brightness potential to defeat the glare during day time.

but i found that reflection was still hurting my viewing...those older non reflective panels didn't have them, even my sony cx420 is quite good in that respect!...i really dont know the intricacies of technology like u adder or somebody else, but i could make out the differences that's it!...& lets not bring out the lcd-led & plasma comparison/debate all over again..every tv technology has it''s pros & cons!

what i meant honestly was that my spontaneous reaction on seeing all the ultra clear panels was ohh goshh!..what did they do to the perfectly good lcds with this mirror like gimmick?..No Reflection & No glare used to be my favourite feature on a lcd tv but the all knowing engineers thought otherwise!..Mayb i'm ignorant of the benefits ,whatever improvements it brings in,i'm not sure...but for ignorant me,i feel its a bit of trade off.

well,that's from a 2 minutes of viewing of the d5000 !

@indiglo - there is no reflection at all from the ultra clear panel, even from a cfl bulb directly behind the viewing area, which I used to clearly see in my older crt, but somehow samsung cuts the glare here completely; also as brightness levels are too high in most samsung led's, it is recommended to put brightness below 50% level (approx 40 would be perfect) and the picture is clearly visible in even the brightest lit rooms with natural sunlight (unlike the plasmas)

@shyam.b @sajjad - the game mode is located under Menu - System -General - Game Mode - On/Off ; However it will change picture mode to standard and no other picture mode is switchable till you switch off game mode;

No question that the reflection is there, but what i mean is it doesn't wash out like a plasma.A plasma screens turns grey.
Look at the below example
http://i32.tinypic.com/oa4sw7.jpg panasonic g10 plasma
http://i30.tinypic.com/2u58gab.jpg samsung A650 glossy lcd

You can see that the lcd preserves a lot of detail.

I agree with @adder, the reflection of light is there on Samsung LED, I have Tube light right opposite of TV and I can see it clearly, but Colors are not washed out. Still its a distraction. But Day light I don't think it affects that much. I was not able to see any reflections during Day time. But at Night, with the light directly opposite, its really a distraction. I changed my light position after that.

maybe my cfl is angled slightly better... lolz... anyways I cant see its reflection and didnt need to re-position it... just my luck, I presume...
