Hey guys..

I was looking to buy a 2DTV for my parents.. been following this thread and thanks for all your valuable inputs regarding this model, it helped me a lot to finalize this model.
I have been using LA6910 from past 1 and half years and very happy with it.. I just love looking at this TV.. wow.

Anyways coming back to Sony W700B.. when i saw this TV for the first time.. i totally fell in love with it.
PQ is fantastic
Sound quality is excellent
Surprisingly UI is very clean, minimalistic and elegant (BTW i hated SONY'S 2013 UI.. that was one of the main reason for me to choose LA6910 over W800)
Very slick modern looking design or model (Not as good as my LG LA6910 though.. just kidding)

Also demoed Samsung and LG LB5820
Both PQ looked great as well but Samsung 40" is a let down.. (looks small like 32")
LG - i hated that so called silver color bezel and rounded edges (what happened to LG this time? ).. looks wise LG is really ugly. Very cheap build quality.

So finalized SONY W700B.. I purchased this TV for 57.3 in Hyderabad, luckily free DVD player offer was still on :)

Technician came and installed it yesterday.

About Usage hours:
As soon as TV was installed.. first thing i did was to check usage then it showed up as: 00000-00005-00000
Now im little confused.. why does 5 showed up? does this mean 5 hours, 5 days, 500 hours? or just 5 mins.. please help me guys.

Extended Warranty:
As usual it came with 1 year warranty.. what about extended warranty? who much does it cost?

Thank you guys.. looking forward to hear from you.

^ Congrats!
I read somewhere that, that middle 5digits represent 'boot count' (left 5digits are 'hours' and right 5digits are 'panel hours'). Any w700b users can confirm this.

And about extended warranty, unlike Samsung & LG you can easily find their (Sony) website. Its about 5k for 42" for +2years, here is the link BRAVIA Extended Warranty Packs

Thanks a lot for sharing info on extended warranty :ohyeah:

Does this TV supports 1TB HDD? I saw in few websites that it doesn't support NTFS formatted HDD. Someone please clarify. I have decided to buy this model and I watch movies & series through my 1TB WD HDD

@suga49
It does but it is very slow. I use an 8GB USB and even that irritates me. 1GB would definitely take a lot of time.
Surprisingly this particular model is pretty slow when it comes to reading USB drives!

@ValarMorghulis

Thank You for the reply. I think I have to settle with a pen drive instead of using hard Disk. two more questions.
1. Can you please tell me if this tv can play MKV, MP4 formats. most of the video files I have are in this format.
2. Does it support subtitle files (.SRT) for the videos.

I use a 1TB hard disk. A Seagate one, it reads all the files but as pointed by others it is slow but manageable. Folder view option is present which makes it open files sooner. It has played all my Mp4, mkv files along with subtitles. No issues in that.

Even I have the same issue. Before the software update most formats played without a problem and I was quite happy on that. Now it big concern. Some how this problem should reach sony, and hope they consider

Yes.. plays .mkv, .mp4 as well as subtitles :)
Just name the .srt file same as the video file

Just one more question. How about wifi range? I have TP-Link W8961 router. Its in first floor and TV would be in ground floor. My smartphone and laptop gets few bar of signal in ground floor but browsing speed will be great. Will those few bars of signal enough for the TV ?

The first few digits indicates hours , middle ones boot count and last ones lcd panel hours

Your tv indicates 5 times booted up and zero hours used

Well the range isn't an issue for me since the Wifi router is right in the same entertainment unit as the TV, so can't comment there. But at times the TV gives me erratic response with Wifi. When it is connected Youtube plays like a charm (thanks to the 50Mbps Hathaway connection) :-)
