Sony Bravia KDL W700B - Buyers Thread

Does anybody know if this TV is VESA compliant? I have ordered this TV but have it got the delivery yet. I need to buy a swivel mount for this TV. I cannot order unless i know the swivel stand will work for this TV? Can somebody post the pictures of rear side of this TV?

This is how the backside looks like

Thanks. Looks like it is not VESA compliant. Anyway i got a swivel stand from SP road.

I am buying it from Vaishali electronics, He promised to deliver today. I just got the serial number of the TV and picture of box. The box says "Made in Malaysia". Are TV sold in India are Made in Malaysia?

How much are you paying? A friend wants to buy one, is searching for best quotes.

They will do a broad classification of the files. ie: All, Music, Movies, Picture.

This is the most irritating feature(?) of this TV when you have hundreds of videos, thousands of photos and thousands of songs in your disk. When showing content by Audio/Video/Photo categories, the TV searches for *ALL* the content in entire disk and in the process it becomes slow.

I wonder why Sony doesn't give an option of showing the content directory wise?

Hi Guys bought sony w700b from vaishali electronics bangalore for 56k...

yet to be opened...planning to wall mount it tomorrow..when the guys come for installation
anytips regarding mounting and all that..
also hanging around forums like avs etc what i found is that..those tVs offered in UKs etc get 5year warranties..where does there tv gets manufactured from O_o

I am planning to buy W700B 42' and looking to wall mount it...
I want to know all ports including HDMI, USBs are accessible properly and what type of wall mount is coming with the TV. How much distance from wall we get once we mount it so that hand goes easily for accessing ports..

I request all owners to put their TV pictures with side view and backside pics...

Also I am interested to see how TV display black color and SD channels? is this TV support all movie formats - Full HD MKV, H.264, XVID, AVI etc..- if anyone of you can capture screen for different channels quality results and post it over here then it would be good for new buyers...

Hi Guys any one of you having good collection of blue ray or hd movies...english in HDD...any one willing to share ??/:)

Hi Guys,

Add me to the list of owners of Sony w700B. I have purchased the tv for 61k and it was installed on Monday. First impressions on the PQ is very good. HD channels look fantastic. SD channels are decent as well. I have tried connecting my 1 TB hard disk to the tv and it takes some time to read the disk. as soon as it reads it, the movies are playing flawlessly. I am yet to check for mkv files though.
I am yet to connect it to internet as well. Will post my thoughts on it once I will get a wifi connection. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase. The PQ is an absolute scream and it really matters more than anything to me. I will post some pics after I connect it to my YHT 299.

Thanks,
Sandeep.

I suggest you to go to a nearby showroom and check the TV ports and also the HD and SD picture quality. Please go through the earlier posts in this thread to see the pics of the TV. Ports on the side are easily accessible. But those behind the TV are little bit difficult to access. All movie formats are supported.

technician is yet to come..i called the sales shop they say, company technicians will come for wall mounting the tv..its already late..and the rain is about to kick in >_<..i wonder there is after service is going to be like this too :/

did any of u guys update the firmware for the w700b in the form of software update....did u notice any changes.....

ok they finally came and installed the tv..since we didnt have any hdmi cable connected the set top box (which supports hd and has some 6 hd channels) thru regular cables...
i was a bit disappointed..made me wonder 42 inch...why :/

but then i played back MOnsters university 1080p on it..
just went wowwwwwwwwwwww...
it looks so good..need to play around with settings now..
but have to do some tweaks now..still getting used to my first smart tv..
as have been said before the way the tv displays media witout any directory structure is irritating..

i also have one query the subtitle seems to be shown with a tranparent background...is there a way to completely disable the background..thats a bugger.

also can some one tell me good setting for sports esp football..
football looks the most horrible..definitely needs hd..ill experiment and tell my experiences later on..for the time being..just about using vivid mode with reduced backlight and all..
anyway picture looks very different nothing like i have experienced so far :)

hi...first of all NICE PROFILE PIC....i think it is the famous chariot of HAMPI..

I have really liked the way u have shortlisted this led tv....

can u give me any idea about..which audio system/component/etc can be used with this model.....?(like u i also prefer BR Rips...so buying a dvd home theater wont be a good idea..right?)

i intend to find out about that
planning to get a toslink cable and connect it to our old JVC home theatre...which well weird as it seems was never used as home theatre....want to see if the tv is gonna output 5.1 audio..
the default audio is rather..weird esp if the input is 5.1... the tv doesnt downmix well i guess.or i wonder if its due to all those setting...i need to take it around 50-60 to get audio with voice booster and all that in max...shall update
