Sony Bravia KDL W700B - Buyers Thread

What about 89 degree viewing angle in this model...many other support 178 degree...

Will 89 degree be enough in normal living room?

89 degree left and 89 degree right - means 178 degree if you walk around...Make Sense...
Finally I am purchasing this TV today...

I am a bit confused between the latest one that is R48 and W700 B I am getting W700 B 42" for 60000 and R48 launch price is 55000/- both of them have bravia engine but R48 is not a Smart TV but major features are similar like photo share, MHL etc. My question is getting an smart TV is a good option or non smart will do for me. And how to check the TV usage. I am just worried whether the dealer is giving me a model which he kept for display. Any suggestions for the above.
PS: I am not finding any reviews about Sony KDL R48 online. It is available in stores but not much information is available on web.

I could not find R48 details on SONY India website...but seems its a 40' model. So, if your decision is between R48 and W700B, then you may blindly go ahead with W700B. 2 inch extra screen size is worth the price differential, coupled with smart features, which may be used at times. More importantly, W Series is SONY's top series, which R is not...

M using W700B and has been extremely delighted with the experience so far.

bought 40W700B today,in rs 61,000,from local dealer Jai Engineering,Moradabad,UP,waiting for wall mount from service center.

same here...got delivery today....i personally went to dealer godown and there are 3 box packed tv...and i have selected one....(to avoid confusion related demo piece)-it will be installed tomorrow...and then i will post images...

I bought it from Ahmedabad, Gujarat for 62K.
i have checked with Croma, Reliance but didn't get lower price than 63K
Even Sony Centre told me to take this TV for 64K and not lower than this...
Finally I got it from one of the Sony dealer in the town for 62K. - Got bill for full 64.9K(he told me that they can not offer anything below than 64.9K which is MOP)

Looking at the box packed fresh TV - I am OK with 62K Cost.

Hi
I have bought it from pai international electronics, attapur for 61k. They gave a fresh piece. Not sure about vaishali electronics.
Reliance digital was not going below 63k.
Thanks,
Sandeep.

Any update on firmware?
I got newer one...PKG2.134GAA

Another question - is bigflix free for couple of months on new sony tv? - a person came from sony for installation told me...
I got msg on screen but after subscribing with my details it's showing me subscription require??

No one is replying!!

anyone got new firmware - PKG2.134GAA??

Sony website shows PKG2.112GAA only...

My TV shown software update and i have done...

At the bottom just after sony logo there is a illuminated LED light - its dim white...when does it glow and change color
I have seen there are modes given in settings but there is no any effect - sales guy told me that when TV interacts with devices at that time it will glow and change colors??

if anyone of you figured it out then let me know...

Big Flix is free for 3 months, just open the App on your TV, register and enjoy, I haven't watched a movie there yet but registered and it says 3 months Eco pack subscription is enabled.

My TV is Sony 47W850A but this BigFlix offer is for all Sony Bravia TVs AFAIK.

Finally bought this TV from Croma over the weekend. MRP was 64900 but there was 3000 cashback offer on citibank plus they let me shop for additional Rs 1500 so effective price was 60, 400. The TV was installed yesterday. I got it wall mounted on a swivel mount. I checked the usage hours and it turned out to be fresh piece.
Initial impressions of the TV look good. I tried the screen mirroring with my Nexus5 and it did not work which was surprising as TV is Miracast compliant and i hope Nexus5 is too? Has anybody tried it and can outline the procedure.
Croma is offering another 2 years warranty at Rs 3000 which is serviced by Sony but expenses will be born by Croma? is it worth it?
