ST50 Owners' Thread - First impressions, Reviews, Tweaks, etc.

E8000 CURRENT mrp IS 95k.. Most of the multibrand dealers seller normally give atleast 10% discount on it.. so the price shall be around 85k.. Tab2 offer is from Samy.. I don't think the HT will be equivalent of 14K he is charging unless it is really very high end one, which I seriously doubt... anyway as long as you are comfortable you may please go ahead.. but I think you can still negotiate for some more discount/ freebies ..

Is anyone using the DLNA feature of Viera. I use XBMC on my HTPC and have enabled DLNA. In the media server option, XBMC shows up without any issue. However playing the actually movie on the TV doesn't give a good user experience. The movies play in jerks. However I am able to play the same movies flawlessly using airplay on apple tv.

I have described my setup here. Any help in resolving streaming to tv using XBMC will help me to use my apple tv in another room on a tv which has zero smart tv features.

I faced the same issues. The problem was with network and bandwidth. When I connected via wired network, there were very minimal issues (slight jerks once in 10 minutes or so).

Which means that the media must be getting transmitted at high bitrate. Most probably apple tv could be reducing the bit rate of the transmission to ensure a smooth playback. Now the question is how to wire different rooms without creating a mess. Ethernet over powerline?

Ethernet over powerline has been proven concept. Has anyone implemented yet?

In another thread, there was a problem with a ST30 panel ( a vertical line running on one side of the screen) owned by a person. Good that the set was under 3 year warranty and so he got a new ST50.
My question is - why are these lines start coming after few hours of usage ? Are they genuine manufaturing defects or defects shown due to the way the TV was used ?.

My intent in asking this question is - As a user, can that be prevented by following a particular way of using it ? For example, are those panel related defects start coming out due to erratic power supply or any other external causes or due to some way of using the TV ? If it is due to some external causes (either the by the usage or other causes), then we can take proper steps so that we use the TV in a better way (for example - adding surge protector or anything for the matter)

The very reason for posting this post is that I owned an LED TV before and just after 1 year, a vertical line started coming on the right side of the panel. Unfortunately it was out of warranty. The total hours of usage was around 1100. Now I want to be precautious with my new ST50.

These are genuine manufacturing quality issues. We can only take care of problems with power fluctuations (use stabilizer) or power surges (surge guards). Rest in ??? ?????.

But there are many more users who never face any issues.

ST50 what comes inside the box...

Please share what comes inside the box say glasses are part of the box packing?

Sorry. Just a tongue in cheek remark. With my TV, our contained:
- composite and component cable (male to female) extenders
- power cable
- manual
- desktop stand
- two 3D glasses

Warranty card was given separately by dealer. I was disappointed that there was no HDMI cable included.
