ST50 Owners' Thread - First impressions, Reviews, Tweaks, etc.

Compareindia does comparison of product features, price etc and does not quote the price by themselves. One needs to get in touch with the dealer who has mentioned the price to get the real cost of the product which might be quite different then mentioned here... I had experienced this while purchasing my set....

disneyschumi,

I think you should stick with your VT20 for now. :)

Nor is it a good time to buy a TV as 2013 models will out in less than 6 months.

New Plasma Hours Run should be ZERO????

Hi,

My replacement just got confirmed. Team suggested it may have few hours of panel run for testing.

My last plasma had it at zero.

Hope thats fine??? I shall keep you guys posted

talking of the Compare India website, almost two months back when I was hunting for 42UT40D in Mumbai, I found a dealer's reference here (Mayur Elec). Called him and confirmed the price & availability and finally took the delivery. When I told him that I got his reference from online search, he said then it would be definitely from Compare India website. His prices were mentioned as 63610 (which I just checked the same), but since I had gone to his store for self pickup, he discounted to final of 65000.

42UT40D .. is there any TV by that name .. either it is 42UT30 or 42UT50 ..I think Pany never had any 40 series.. others can enlighten..

So he quoted 63610 and after discount he charged you 65000... hmm so how the price went up after discount.. am I missing something?

Panasonic India Team ?

If yes, then I guess it should be okay but not really necessary IMO.

I mean service team. But can't trust them as they last time gave a used set with hundred of hours clocked.

So just wanted to understand of count should be zero...

The 65ST50 has not been launched in India as yet. I was waiting for it for the last 6 months before I bought the smaller gt one. Possibly the compare India price is for the 50st50.

How can the 65 incher be that cheap @ 111000 when the 50gt50 is 112000.

Please read my thread about my replacement experience.
1. The box was opened for the first time in my house. Hours Count was zero.
2. Two pairs 3D glasses were in the box. The service centre did not intend to let me have it. But i refused to hand them over. Later i got a call from the service centre about it. Then I called the Panny Manager from their head office. I had spoken to him much earlier about this situation i.e. The service centre taking out stuff from the box. I had also demanded the hours count to be zero.
3. Keep in mind though that before the replacement I was told that the box would be opened at the service centre to check for transit damage. Dunno why they did not do it. Good for me :-)

Did not get a new wall mount. Guess the old one should work with the ST50. I have not used it yet. I do intend to use it with the ST50 now. Will post once done.

The wall mount is universal for 42" and 50" models. Not sure about 65". So it should work.

Is the guarantee card comes along with the box?Or we need to collect it separately? I don't see the card in my box nor was given it along with my bill.

Thanks.

Now I have spent more than a week with my new st50.The experience is pretty good.Very refreshing.Vibrant colors and no motion sickness.
My brother came down today to watch it.He was very impressed with my earlier bright samsung led. He opined that the colors were vibrant and motion was good. He asked me why he was not now seeing those fine details on the faces and those sharp edges.I told him that now leds do more processing on the frames which result in that "soap opera" effect.
He said that whatever it is the led was extracting more "details".I tried to convince him that it was not meant to be watched like that.A film should not be like 30fps tv serial.
Any way he finally said that an ordinary user would definetly tend towards leds for their brighter and detailed pictures.
Well, he also was joking that I am turning into a "dracula" because I no more can tolerate room light:annoyed:

I have the same problem like you. Just cannot like the post processed feel on the frames (photoshop effect) when watching LCD tvs. They feel unnatural because of post processing algorithms to correct problems posed by a back-light.

But a person accustomed to LCD tvs feel that something is lacking in the Plasmas.

So it all boils down to personal preferences.
