Suggestions on BIC America F12

@Amitnigam
W3 level errors occurs if the volume on the sub is set at 3 and above, expected with this sub since the F12 is quite louder even at volume 3 or 4.
Keep the Sub Volume at 3.
Whats the distance between Sub and Mic?
Place Mic at different position and at ear level when sit on sofa (Min mic distance 4 feet from sub) run calibration again. Best effects noticed when sub is placed when 3-4 feet away from wall to bass port.

I got that. I set the sub volume to 6 during YPAO setup. I will run the setup again with volume less than 3. Thanks.

Distance between Sub and Mic/listening position is more than 10 feet.

Thanks

Dear all,

I too have unpacked my PL-200 sub. Before writing a detailed review, I would like to share some pics that I took today first.

Setup done?

Ensure at least 3 inch gap if placing the sub near a wall....the port needs its space

I am getting a new tv furniture (custom made) and bookshelf speaker stand tomorrow. It will be a complete setup tomorrow.

Yes, I have given 5 inches gap. Yet the excursion is high...

Check what FREQ cut off is assigned by the AVR...i kept my sub at 110hz...fronts are kept large at 90hz.....enough blend roll....awesome sound...sub volume on sub is 50% and avr it is kept at +3.....

Again it depends on your room / listening area

In my case, AVR assigned cutoff frequency to 40 Hz and speakers set to large. Sub Volume on sub is 3 and crossover set to 180 Hz. Volume of Sub on AVR is -8.

I have changed the speakers to small and cut off frequency to 80Hz on AVR.

W-3 level error gone by keeping the Sub volume at 3 during YPAO setup. But YPAO set the sub level to -10 and speakers to +4.5dB.

I have set the sub level to -8 and speakers to +1.5 dB.

Its sounding awesome but I will be experimenting more to check if it can improve more.

Thanks

ok.......large speakers claim to drive at 40hz......i would still keep them at 70hz.....

sub at 90 or 100hz.....

Will the sub work or receive the low frequencies if the speakers are set to large? I read somewhere that if speakers are set to large then AVR sends all frequency to Speakers.

Hi

You can change settings to AVR for Bass Management as LFE +Main....sub will receive the signals as to what is specified....cutoff

Are you sure? I thought when you set it to large, only the designated LFE sound will be sent and cutover gets ignored. Only when you set to small, will the cutover get active.

Yes i am sure...my AVR....Marantz has the option in Bass Management...LFE+MAIN

Cutover specified frequencies will always remain in settings...

When playing "Stereo" on AVR, it depends on the sound mode & crossover setting..

When you engage one of these sound modes (Pure Audio/ Direct/ source direct/Pure Direct / Straight mode) for stereo in AVR, these will send full range signals to front speakers and no output to subwoofer.. Basically overrides the crossover and speaker (large/small) setting..

When you engage "Stereo mode" on AVR, the specified crossover under bass management comes into effect.. Anything below the crossover point, regardless of speaker setting (Large/small) will be sent to sub..

On my Denon AVR, "LFE + Main" sends a full signal to Front speakers and to the subwoofer up to the crossover point.. It duplicates bass across speakers..

"LFE only" setting sends all bass below the crossover point to the sub..

Some of these settings may slightly vary with AVR.. Refer to your AVR manual to understand the function in detail (or) try experimenting..
