The 2013 Plasma Discussion Thread!

No yaar, mine is XT50. The crosstalk is not very bad but it's visible in some scenes. Some scenes doesn't show and some does.

Hi,

So iam planning to buy my first TV :o(im am laptop and smartphone guy) . After much research decided to go with PLASMA. But plasma TVs models are rare in india.
So went thru this thread and found panasonic plasma is coming to india but don't want to buy it at current prices.

Recently Samsung launched 43 inch 3d plasma - 43F4900. This is HD ready(I know it's not full hd but most of the contents I will watch will not be full HD) has active 3D and 2 free glasses @ Rs42800. I think 43 inch is good enough and it also has 3D so it should be future proof for atleast 2-3 years.

I am not interested in WIFI and internet features. I just want good picture and 3D quality and good after sales service.Should work with PC and PS3/Xbox without issues.

What do you guys think should i go for Samsung 43F4900. This model is newly launced in india so I didnot find any reviews online. Checked the 43 inch 3D samsung plasma models in UK amazon review and the reviews are favourable at that price. Also is there any issues for samsung plasma's like in panasonic there is some green screen etc..

If any one has this TV on this forum let me know your impressions Or if I should go with some other brand TV.

@ Sunny

If you don't want full HD, then Samsung 43f4900 is the best in line. I have checked it myself and it is very very good. I am not sure it is advisable to use with PC PS3/Xbox though. Another option could be Panasonic 42xt50 but it is last year model. And forum expert members are suggesting to go for Samsung 43f4900. There is a dedicated thread for this model. http://www.hifivision.com/television/42986-owner-samsung-ps43f4900-f-series-plasma-tv.html

Got my ST60 from Mumbai..so far so good.
Quite satisfied with the picture quality - both SD and HD. Strangely, once I upgraded my Tata sky settop box to HD, even SD channels started looking better...

I am very disappointed with the 3d capabilities in ST60. Very poor depth in 3d..I tried out multiple movies with multiple settings...but no where close to what other 3d tv's deliver.

Another quick 'stupid' question regarding plasma tvs...do they run on AC or the TV SMPS converts it to DC?
Reason for asking is the choice of interver. I have a old 'square wave' inverter and I am not sure if it would harm my 50ST60

It is advisable to purchase full HD above 32 inch as the dot pinch (distance between two sub pixel) increases and the image will be much grainier.

For HD 720 (32 inch), dot pitch = 0.5187 mm
For HD 720 (43 inch), dot pitch = 0.697 mm

For full HD (43 inch), dot pitch is 0.4958 mm which is better than 32 inch HD 720!

Sooner, rather than later you will watch full HD content and then it will be a huge limitation.

All flat panel TVs run on DC. AC is conferred to DC by the smps inside.

Hey congratulations!

I have not yet touched the 3d glasses on mine.
BTW: Did you remove the stickers (one red and one blue) on the 3D glasses?
There are no instructions there.

Also, did you get warranty card inside the box?

Yes. The stickers (red, blue and in the center) have to be pulled out and then you can try the 3d glasses. I got a warranty card and have also send it by post to Panasonic.

Strangely, I did not get the USB cord for charging the 3D glasses?

Are these rechargeable glasses? I don't think so.

Thats what is not clear..I removed the 3d glass battery compartment and saw a flat cell in there, but could not find a charging socket.

Why is the internet full of pages showing charging by usb?

Those are not rechargeable. You need to replace the button cell after it runs out.

hi everybody i am new to this forum.i am a die-hard fan of plasma.i have been using
panasonic plasmas for the past 5 years, first py80 then g10 and now v20 all 42 inches.i then decided to go for a bigger screen and wanted to go for a samsung plama.i went to the samsung showroom and took a demo of 51f5500 and to my surprise the picture of samsung was much better than any of my previous plasmas.the image is much more cleaner than panasonic.that means better clarity than panasonic.SD looks much better and HD even better.SD(DTH) on panasonic plasmas look very ordinary.samsung plasmas
have a digital look(more cleaner) and panasonic have an analogue look(less cleaner).i love the digital look and i have decided to purchase the f5500.
