Ah. Only if gt60 was released in india , I would have bought it and claimed that I have a "reference quality" plasma.
What a bad luck.

Plz tell me in detail.
Pros and cons.

Pros:
- Biggest adv. is 10" extra size
- Nearly 95% matches the performance of ST60; we checked with our own BD sources
- brighter

Cons:
- Half the grey shades of gradations as compared to ST60 (some 6144 shades or something)
- G14 non neoPDP panel
- slightly more reflective
- does not have infinite black pro filter
- not 3D

The S60 is a worthy replacement and improvement over last year's UT50 minus the 3D. An average user cannot make the differences between the two TVs except the slightly more reflective panel. Have a demo before you take the plunge. I think that it is a worth buy purely due to the extra size.

Reflections could be a menace. I am not saying this because one could see ones own image on the screen. But because it degrades the picture quality of a plasma.
The images tend to look washed out.
If one can afford it , it is better to go for st60.
Anyways, a demo should make it clear.

Seriously thinking of importing it...

For all who are waiting cross fingered for the 51' or 60" F8500, maybe this might help:

Scroll down on the Samsung India site and click on "Contact Us".
You will get an option to send mail to the CEO.

Maybe if many people ask for these models, they might just come!

60S60 will be slightly more expensive that 50ST60. So the question of "affording" may not arise. Basically it is a judgement call - pay a little more and get extra 10" at the quality of last year's UT50 or stick to the higher end ST60 (that has 3D capability as well) but 10" smaller?

It is not really "evens-stevens" nor an "apple to apple" situation. Gut feeling will play more role than anything else.

Another key point to be considered while going for a big screen is availiability of HD content over and above the price.....you cant enjoy unless you have good content...SD will not give you the desired utility of a 60" or 65" big screen..

A 60 inch could be better for 3d.
For a 2d, one should never take chances with picture processing.
It is always better to go for a model like st60 which has proved itself to be something on par with f8500, than s60.
I think a 10 inch more will only help in filling the room rather than the heart.
